As anyone attempted this yet?

Dakota River is a No!! I think...… maybe Flat Iron Lake you can float across in a coach.
Other then that, the original part of the map.

No one tried yet?

Do coaches actually float? There will be disappointment if they don't.

I don't know if they float yet because all the rivers I've found are shallow enough that the horses can pull the stagecoach through the water. This causes the stagecoach to be damaged and then the horses detach and run off. The game prompts you that the coaches is too damaged to keep going so this may add an interesting mechanic to rafting.

This is as deep a river I've found yet but I'm still in Chapter 2 and moving slowly.

I think the Coaches will still float, in the Original locations.

Hey all.

I just wanted to spread the word that VMB's Stagecoach Boating World Record vid got blocked indefinitely on YouTube awhile back. I noticed around November, and was not happy about it... (6 years of no restrictions and now they want to block the music?!) Luckily, our main man Captain Subovon had saved a copy - in its original quality - as I surmised. I've uploaded it to Vimeo so this epic will be available for future generations to view. You can update the link to the OP if you want Capm'. (thumbsup)

https://vimeo.com/338585040

If this doesn't wanna make you go stagecoach boating - nothing will! I also downloaded his entire web of work just in case anything else happens on the platform going forward. I'll leave a link here and cache this thread on Wayback Machine since the forum tends to go down sometimes.

What? After all these years??!!  YouTube can be ridiculous sometimes. Thanks to Tes and Subovon for salvaging the videos!

That's Red Dead history right there!

I wholeheartedly concur. One of the best feats to VMBs videos was how he harmonized the original RDR soundtrack with the gameplay footage. It meshed absolutely beautifully -- especially with the timelapeses and such. Thankfully Woody Jackson & Co. are cool about it...

I'm damn happy I was able to help get that video back online. It was the highest quality version Youtube would gave me at the time. I'm pretty sure I downloaded it right when VMB uploaded it. I don't know about it making game history or anything like that but it's definitely a part of Red Dead 1 history. It was a ton of fun to be part of that whole group of hardcore stagecoach boaters.

I missed all that fun....as always, I'm "late to the party" on just about everything in my life. I would have given anything to join you guys when that was all happening. I was hoping that RDR2 online was going to make more history with things like that...but, unfortunately it didn't happen.

I wouldn’t write off 2 yet! I just looked at my first boating photo (no capture card) and it’s dated June 2011, over a year after launch. I was definitely not a pioneer, but saw it in this very thread and jumped on the bandwagon. We’re not far into this game's lifespan and R* has deep pockets so they will keep this going for years. I remember a while after that we used to “roller coaster” down the hills north of the river using common 4 wheeled wagons and had a blast. Never got to be a “forum thing” but it was fun.

Oh, of course...I know Rockstar must have big plans for RDO and I agree, it's still early in the game and there's much more to come as far as content goes.  Deep down inside I still hope that we, as a forum....the amazing community that once was...can do the same fun things and new things again!  We just need to be more creative and come up with ideas that can keep the group entertained...maybe not for as long as RDR1 had lasted...but, as more content comes along that will allow players to do more....we can do more....together! I honestly hope we can!

The Stagecoaches in RDO may not float...…. But I wonder if we can get 30 coaches rounded up, to plummet down one of the many waterfalls.

(i'm thinking awesome screenshot of the carnage)

I think everyone shares the same sentiment. The sheer amount of unadulterated fun these guy's were having on PS3 looked like the cat's pajamas --  and certainly left me severely contemplating/regretting my time languished on Battlefield™ during that era... lol.

I've never had as much fun with a game online as I had with RDR. What was amazing about it was how the only incentive to log on was: "I'm ready to have a good time." RDO is a totally different beast as is RDR2. And in each one, the damn rivers are shallow and the stages just can't float. Maybe as they change the map, they'll deepen the waters but so far, it ain't gonna happen.

I think it's good that RDR1 and RDO are completely different. No matter what, years have past and no experience like that is repeatable. I like the idea of finding new stuff to do and it's true the game is just out so there's probably some cool things to figure out.

And Battlefield 3 is the best Battlefield. I wasted so much time in that game that I was in the top 1% for knife kills on PS3.

This is true, Subovon! Do you think that more people get together on PS4? Because I can't find very many people on Xbox who want to get together to try out new and crazy things on RDO! I did find one friend who likes to glitch off the map and there have been many methods but...darn it....Rockstar quickly patches everything that is fun!

What thread here had the video of the guy launching himself off the map way up in the sky? Something to do with a wagon and firebottle in story mode.....wonder if it works in RDO?

Also, horseback rooftopping is possible...not many roofs, but there are few do-able ones here and there.

Rockstar are more active with Multiplayer gaming now, introducing New weekly content drops (or dripfeed)  gamemode event week & discounts...… And by doing this they are constantly maintaining the game from bugs.

Where as RDRI was just left for months by letting these bugs fester into glitches and have fun with, becoming a normal feature that we could activate anytime.
