Ha! Trav, I love reading about you enjoying these books! Farking amazing aren't they? ;D

Yes, they were in the Kansas of the Stand. They actually travelled thru the thinny on Blaine to get there. Or crashed thru is more accurate ;) SEE YOU LATER ALLIGATOR AND DON'T FORGET TO WRITE. :P

Ahhhh, you've come to the conundrum about Randall/Marten/Walter. This has been a controversy for some time. You should check out The Dark Tower Compendium (google it) it explains all the connections between the Dark Tower series and all of King's other books. Very interesting. I have gleaned that Walter/Marten are the same (and even that is in question), but Randall is a different specimen alltogether, you will be hearing from him again...

Ahhhh, Andrew! You'd think he would have been a little tougher with Lord Perth as his father, but, alas, he has breathed his last!

It really floors me to see someone enjoy this story! I still go around opening doors and wishing something else will be on the other side...

Reading "The Wolves of the Calla" right now.  Only on page 100 or so.  But it's pretty great so far.  I can't believe I didn't know about these books earlier.

Literally they are like if The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly banged The Lord of the Rings and had a bad ass child, it would be The Dark Tower.  What a fantastic series.

If you have never read it, please people....pick up The Gunslinger and give it a go.

Yeah I love the dark tower series. Easily the best books I have ever read.  I was just looking up quotes when I stumbled across this thread.

" So do we pass the ghosts that haunt us later in our lives; they sit undramatically by the roadside like poor beggars, and we see them only from the corners of our eyes, if we see them at all. The idea that they have been waiting there for us rarely if ever crosses our minds. Yet they do wait, and when we have passed, they gather up their bundles of memory and fall in behind, treading in our footsteps and catching up, little by little.”

As for me I am currently reading world war z.

A late thanks Cas.  I haven't read in awhile but I'm getting back into it again and I'm at the part where the people from the village are stalking the Ka-tet, but they know it's happening.  I'll report back when I make some progress.

Doctor Sleep was pretty meh, not one of my favourites by SK.

I'm now reading through the Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell, currently on Sharpe's Company. Epic reading.

Just finished The Dark Tower, Was a little disappointed it seemed like a hurried up affair, and I was not so much for the ending I thought it sucked and was a little rushed and left me unfulfilled.

Here's one I just finished called "Rash" by Pete Hautman
May be our future.

Just finished Into the Silence by Wade Davis. It's a historical account of the first British expeditions to climb Everest in the 1920s. Guys who had spent their youth in the trenches of France/Belgium heading to Tibet in an attempt to restore the "Imperial spirit" of adventure and conquest. And of course, given their arrogance and lack of equipment, they failed. It's a really haunting book.

If you enjoy nonfiction, it is definitely worth a read. One of the best history books I've ever read.
