I can understand why they made a lot of the changes. They had to make some alterations to make the story flow better and the characters easier to develop. But I think only a few of them are improvements on the original story. I love the introduction of characters like Mearle and Daryl, I like what they did with Dale's character. Everything else seems a little superfluous and unnecessary, though. I'm just grateful that they retained the subplot of Hershel keeping zombies in the barn.

So, nobody noticed the zombies shuffling around in the barn at night up to this point? And they still don't know. Really?

I know right? No moaning through the night, or reactions to the gunshots etc

I like how Hershel was actually open about it in the comics. He was more outspoken and obstinate about his principles in the source material. I think the show is butchering him pretty badly.

Blonde girl is an idiot for trying to prove herself like that. The fact that she missed better let her know that she needs to stop before someone else gets hurt or even killed.

How has no one brought up last night's episode yet?  I thought it was pretty darn good.  Particularly the scene with the guys from Philadelphia in the bar.  Rick is a god damn gunslinger.  It got wild west over here for a minute.

The car cash made me laugh because of how cheesy it was. Why was she even going there? He already knew that the one girl was in shock.

Agreed. That scene made me laugh more than anything.

This episode alone gets 100 points simply for Clutch playing at the end of the episode.

Love, love, love The Walking Dead! It dosen't actually show here in OZ yet so I have to view it by other means  ;) Favourite character has to be Daryl Dixon. Oh I agree with the cheesiness of the car crash!!!

My main gripe with this show is how lame and uninteresting the characters are. It needs more Lost-esque flashbacks to flesh 'em out a bit. But even that is victim to the lameness. Maybe instead of showing T-Dog doing jack shit all day, they could let him monlogue a little about his past, or show a flashback of his life pre-apocalypse. C'mon. Give me something better than 30 seconds of a bald woman crying and ripping up flowers and moving dead bodies into a truck - that adds absolutely nothing to the show.

Hopefully those drifters Rick shot have curious friends.

Agreed! Not to mention it just didn't feel right how it happened. Not the actual crash, but how it happened lol. I laughed pretty hard and I'm like damn that's fucked up shit.... lol!
Why the hell did she need to send someone in town to get him back? Why did she need to go herself?! It doesn't matter! I know she's concerned for the father of her unborn child but also for the fact that Shane is a ticking time bomb. If Rick doesn't come back, then that means Shane will take over. She's not into that idea. So she broke down and did the most retarded thing you can do in a zombie apocalypse -.-

I must say, all of the characters except for Hershel, Rick, Daryl, and Shane are absolutely boring. I defended the show at the beginning of the season because of everything that was going on, but these other characters still have no substance to them. Michael Raymond-James was on the show for all of five minutes or less, and he was so much more interesting than say, Dale.

The show feels more like a soap the retirement home plays everyday. The hole baby deal, and Shane hating on Rick. We saw 2 live zombies. And those where just short clips. Sure, the show needs drama and all that sugar but it needs action too or we we end up with "Days of our apocalyptic lives."

I just got a tweet about this from Seanbaby.

"If I wrote a zombie show & 45 pages of the script were "EVERYONE IS SAD AND NOT FIGHTING ZOMBIES," I would fucking hate myself." #WalkingDead

Come on the show still has it's moments. Yeah it's starting to get lame, but I'm sure they will kick it up a notch. Rick putting those dumbass guys down in the bar was pretty cool.

I still enjoy watching the show every week, but there are plenty of things to critique. AMC did fire Frank Darabont, and the new guy they have promised to switch things up and make the show more "gritty". I have no idea if his producing has already appeared or not on the show, however.

Agreed! It was pretty unexpected coming from Rick, maybe we'll start seeing a different side to him. I wonder if the bar guys friends will show up soon? Hopefully we see some more large numbers of Walkers in upcoming episodes, they are always the most interesting and intense episodes  :)
