I enjoyed the state of the union.  Who's drinking bottled water while talking on TV?  Oh that's right, it's Marco Rubio.

I wish a medium sized meteor struck earth in my lifetime... not large enough to wipe us out but big enough we could all see if it would be like the movies & TV shows.  But not on top of me, or near me, maybe hit somewhere far away I don't care about like the Himalayas or China or Africa.

Well... this is awkward.  But as I have very little shame, only slightly awkward.

Meh.  Russia is 1/8th of the Earth's land it was bound to be them anyway.  But I think its only something like 1/5000th of their surface area has people living on it.

Mostly I hear its bears.  Lots of bears.

Did you know Congress passed some law in the 80s eliminating tax deductions for business expenses if you sold drugs to make it so coke dealers couldn't decide to pay taxes and claim their guns and speed boats as legit business expenses... At least that was the theory.

Like all government intervention in free markets its had unintended bad consequences.  I read an article today on the impact this law is having on medicinal marijuana dispensaries.  These guys are paying between 50%-75% effective tax rates because they can't claim their payroll, office rent our anything else as a tax deduction unlike every other business in America.  Fucking ridiculous.  Some industries like construction you can have $90,000 on expense to make a $10,000 profit.  Can you imagine making $10K and having to pay taxes on $100k?

That's government stifling innovation.

60 years apparently since Stalin died.  His great purge killed more people than the holocaust, but i guess he's thought of relatively well in Russia today as the shattered remnant of ween empire reminisces about the "glory days".

Here's a little nugget from the purge... The gas van, you don't want to take a ride

Has anyone read or heard about the shooting of a 13 month old infant in Georgia?  I feel sad for the mother who had to lose her child.

I can see why they would want to paralyze him, but that does not at all make it the right thing to do. Here in the US that guy would get life in prison, right?

I'm no judge so I have no idea but stabbing your friend cuz you got in a fight when you were 14 years old.... honestly he'd probably be free at 18.

I hate when they wait decades to carry out a sentence. It makes the penal system redundant.

There is a chance, I know of that, but unless you have mental issues or something, you probably know what you are doing when you stab someone at age 14.
