A lot of questions about the game!
« on: April 21, 2010, 06:06:01 AM »
Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum and honestly just registered because I have a lot of question about the game. I'm still on the egde of buying this game, so I hope you can help me.

1. How long will the game be?

I just played through Just Cause 2 (took me 17 hours) and I was really disappointed because it was so short. After I was done, I didn't feel like playing it again. And it was the same with GTA IV (took me longer though :D). It got boring after a while and I just wanted to complete it. Then I moved on to the multiplayer and that got boring very fast as well.

So my other questions (about multiplayer & singleplayer) are:

2. Is there some kind of reward system (can you unlock weapons/clothes)

I love playing multiplayer games that really reward you (like CoD)

3. (stupid question) What will make people play the multiplayer and singleplayer for a long time?

Really kind of stupid question, but I don't want to spend money on something that gets boring very fast.

4. Will there be something like new game+ or what reason is there to keep me playing the game after I completed the singleplayer?

5. Can you upgrade weapons/ buy new clothes (single- & multiplayer)

6. Is the limited edition worth getting?

7. Is it worth getting for multiplayer (I know the singleplayer ist very important in this game)

I know those are a lot of questions, but I really hope to get answers!

Thanks in advance!

1. How long will the game be?
SHOuld be around the same length as GTA IV

2. Is there some kind of reward system (can you unlock weapons/clothes)
You unlock different things when you rank up in MP. It's a mix of classes and horses. Not sure how to unlock guns though...

3.What will make people play the multiplayer and singleplayer for a long time?
SP- Random encounters, which causes a possible infinite amount of side missions, hunting, free roam.... read the forums and you'll get a better idea
MP- Free roam with friends, up to 50 ranks. Again, read around

4.Will there be something like new game+ or what reason is there to keep me playing the game after I completed the singleplayer?
If you are asking if you can play through more than once, of course. Look at my previous answer to see what you can do after.

5. Can you upgrade weapons/ buy new clothes (single- & multiplayer)
Answered this already

6. Is the limited edition worth getting?
It matters if you want all the pre order options.

7. Is it worth getting for multiplayer (I know the singleplayer ist very important in this game)
Yes. This game will set a new benchmark for open world games in multiplayer. That mixed with 50 ranks, makes this for a VERY long game :)

Ok, I just preordered it! Thanks for your help. I will take a look at the forums.

Just a short question:
Why do you think this will be some kind of milestone in multiplayer games because of the free roaming? gta IV had free roaming multiplayer as well.

In short, you won't regret it. From what we've seen so far it really looks the goods in terms of sheer awesomeness.

Yeah, if you liked COD because of rewards, I think you'd like MP cause of the unlockables.

But in all honesty, I think the game will be very similar to GTA. aka open world. If GTA didnt satisfy you I dunno RDR would.

But RDR of course is different in that it has an almost RPG like elements mixed in with the open world, so you might end up liking it :)

I hope I will like this more than GTA IV. GTA was just so boring because there was nothing to do (those activities like pool and comedy clubs were not really that entertaining.

Thats where I think hunting, combating (or helping) bandits, taking over hideouts etc will help. Much more entertaining than playing darts.

Is the singleplayer "combined" with the multiplayer? I mean do you have a "new" character in multiplayer and can you play the singleplayer co-op like?
And is there something like a posse team deathmatch and  a "quickdraw deathmatch" mode?

Single player you'll play as John Marston. In multiplayer you'll play as yourself (your gamertag or PlaystationID etc). You will be able to customised your look a bit and what not.

I just read the fact sheet, so no more questions except of the 2 I previously asked. I read that you can't swim...that kinda sucks

Swimming hasn't been confirmed or denied. Although the fact sheet is mostly correct, based on previews, trailers etc. , some of it is just speculation.

That's good to hear! I hope there will be even more 'things' in the game than mentioned in the fact sheet, so that we will be surprised.

I bet there will be some GTA or Max Payne related easter eggs in the game. I guess those will be part of the surprises :P

On the fact sheet I mark all information that isn't concrete fact or on shaky ground in the colour purple.  Its how I marked the swimming thing.  If you read it on a site that wasn't on IGN you probably didn't get the colour coding.
