Why does the reddead.net url lead to gta.net instead of here? Seems like a death sentence to the forum.

We own this web address, but don't own the old reddead.net domain. The person who founded the GTA forum owns it so he's free to redirect it however he wants. But, thanks for pointing it out. I'll email him and ask him if he'll change it, but frankly he can do whatever he wants with it.

I have a quick question too, if the original owner of the forums is no longer the owner, does that mean Kryten "stole" (I mean no offense by stole) the forums from the original founder, and now owns the forums? Or did the original founder give him permission? Does the original founder even know?

Just some questions, not trying to start anything, just wondering.

No, when we decided to create dedicated boards for each rockstar title and move away from being only 100% Red Dead Kryten went out and purchased the domain we're on now (rockstar-forums.net). We then took the actual database that holds the material in the threads and likes; picked it up and moved it from one web address to the other. (I'm simplifying a few steps here but good enough).

Andy & Kryten had previously transferred control of the site between one another some time in the past. However, when Andy founded the forum he registered the web address for a set number of years and still owned that part of it. By changing web addresses it so happens we're also on a URL owned by us now, but that wasn't the reason for the change per se.

What would happen if someone who used to be active on the forums tried to get onto them if they hadnt realised they'd changed? Would there be anyway for the to get on?

Typing in "RDR forums" has this site at the top. So that helps to some degree.
