Western movie references
« on: September 22, 2018, 04:52:49 PM »
What are your favorite ones westerns that you want to see referenced?  More like an homage or tribute, than an obvious mention.

I’m a huge western fan, and love all the obvious ones.  I hope they reference some lesser known westerns so we have to work to find them all.

Some of my Very favorites are the assasination of Jesse James,  conagher, open range, tombstone, butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid, and lonesome dove.

Any favorites you hope to see?

I’ve never really been a huge fan of westerns but The Three Amigos springs to mind. Classic Chevy Chase.

Hoping for some John Wayne references or maybe some western TV references like Bonanza or The High Chaparral.

I want to see some True Grit references in there, horse trading perhaps? I watched the Coen Brother's remake the other night, the hangman scene had me in stitches, the convicted men where allowed to say a few last words and rambled on about why they were about to be hung etc.  apart from the native American, he started into his last words but was quickly muffled by the hang man's hood before he could get more than 3 words out.

I would love to see references from my favorite actor Clint Eastwood...The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Outlaw Josey Wales or High Plains Drifter.

I did a search on Wikipedia....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Old_West_gunfighters ...there were quite a few outlaws and lawmen around the same time setting as RDR2!  They even mention some of the gangs these outlaws were part of. It wouldn't be surprising if we got a side mission or some type of quest with some of these real life outlaws in the game.

Well, look what I found!  This guy makes some pretty good comparisons to a few old western movie characters.

Pale Rider would make for a good reference. Love the mysterious feeling about that film, it would definitely translate well to the game maybe having a mission with a mysterious character like Eastwood's Preacher.
