Salutations! Welcome to REDDEADFORUMS.NET! We started out as one of the original Red Dead Redemption fansites (reddead.net), created as a side project by yours truly (Andy) and Adam (aka "adamcs" from GTANet). Over the years we have gone through many changes and we thank you all for sticking with us.

Forum Rules

No posting of pornography or linking to pornography.
This means explicit, NC-17 stuff. We don't have a way to verify the age of users here, so such content is restricted. Additionally, any highly sexual content will also be removed and per Google Adsense regulations.

No trolling.
Acting like a jackass for the sake of pissing people off? That's a paddlin'. This includes posts that are obviously offensive to a huge group of people (racism, sexism, religion, console fanboy flame wars, aim mode fanboyism, etc.) as well as targeting individual users.

No flaming.
Arguments are fine. Gigantic rants of spiteful hate are not. If things are getting out of hand, we have the right to step in and settle the situation by whatever means we see necessary. This can range from closing a thread to issuing temporary bans as a "time out" for the offending users.

Spamming and general douchebaggery.
This should be a given, but obviously some users are oblivious to it. So, for the record: Derailing topics, starting up arguments and then complaining to moderators when you get blasted, posting in the wrong section because "your thread will get more views", etc. counts as douchebaggery. NOTE: THIS RULE IS HIGHLY SUBJECTIVE SO USE YOUR COMMON SENSE.

No warez or piracy.
While we might not be the biggest fans of the MPAA, RIAA or any of their kin, we do support the hard work of the men and women who develop the products we love. This means you can't request, link to, refer, or discuss (loose term there - use your common sense) illegally-obtained, copyrighted material.

No advertising 3rd party sites.
Links from your signature or profile is fine, but starting a new thread or bombarding other users with PM's won't be tolerated. However, you are free to promote events - such as multiplayer matches - around other areas of the forum.

No impersonation of other users, staff members or Rockstar employees.
In other words, don't be an idiot.

No creation of spam threads.
These are addressed on a case-by-case basis, but are fairly easy to spot: single-word posts, "forum games" outside of the appropriate forum and so on will generally be cracked down on. It is ultimately left to our forum team to decide whether or not a particular thread is considered spam.

Maximum signature height is 200px. There is no limit on width.
How do you know if your signature is over 200px? If a scrollbar appears in your signature, it's too big.

Please refrain from posting any drug related content.
No pictures either. We have no way of restricting who sees this information, and I think the rest is obvious. This is also in compliance with Google Adsense regulations.

Known users of mods in multiplayer are NOT WELCOME on this site and will be permabanned on sight.
The moderators of this forum will use their own discretion in establishing who will be classed as a modder, but the one and only way that members can prove this beyond a doubt is to post recent evidence of definite modding in-game (for example, someone shooting other players in the lobby). We do not encourage accusations of modding without video evidence.

In relation to second accounts:

If you wish to have your name changed on your existing account PM any Administrator.
An up-to-date list can always be found here.  We can change your display name.  So, for example, should you change clans and wish to add the clan tag in-front of your name, or maybe just get bored of the old name let us know.  Once we change it any PMs people have from you and old posts you've written will all show your new name now.

If you make a second account to avoid a ban that will result in a permanent ban of both accounts.
No appeals, no exceptions.

Don't make more than one account with the explicit intent to troll other users or continue an argument etc.
Any use of a second account to break forum rules will result in a permaban of the second account and a temp ban of the main account.

If a post, user, etc. is in violation of the rules, the fastest way to get our attention is to report the problem properly.

To quote the famous entry from GTAForums:

"Remember, you are a guest on a free service. Our moderators and admins reserve the right to remove you from these forums at any time for any reason. You have no rights and may make no demands."

Offenders will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. These rules are subject to change at any time, so be sure to check back often.

In most cases, using common sense will be more than enough to keep you in the clear. It should also go without saying that certain useless activities (such as trolling, flaming, harassing users, verbally abusing staff, etc.) won't be tolerated.

NOTICE: RULE UPDATE

The prohibition on trolling has been updated to include aim mode fanboyism as well as console fanboyism.  Don't do it.
