Does anybody have some tips on the following:

1. Best way to play Name your Weapon. I run around like an idiot with the Tomahawk and get hammered.
2. How to "find/run into/locate" more players in game. I spend a vast majority of games just running around the map, but I have trouble finding players. As an example in a Name Your Weapon game this past weekend Kazzy went something like 18-9 (so 27 player interactions) and I went 4-7 (11 player interactions). I had the Tomohawk, but still I was always on the move. And some dude went 32-5. How the hell is he/she finding that many players in such a short game?
3. Does anybody have concrete knowledge of how the mini map works in PvP games? I find myself instinctively looking at it throughout and generally (short of the most wanted game) by the time I see anything on the map it's behind me and too late. Most times I get shot by somebody and they never appear on the mini map so I have no idea where it even came from.
1.  Deadeye + shotgun; hip fire
2. Tal trees just sucks and there’s no way to avoid it other than just dying less so you don’t spawn way out.  Hold down an area.  The other maps you just have to learn enough to recognize where people tend to congregate.
3.  Best we can tell is it usually shows people in your line of sight as the red rash, not when firing or anything else.  I often randomly run in a circle to make sure someone is coming from behind, because it won’t show them behind you unless you can see them.

Btw I like your horse idea.  I’ve used it in free roam but never in pvp.  Good idea

Been waiting to get to level 21 to get the volcanic pistol. Has anyone got it, or is there any real point in using/buying a pistol over the varmint?

If you like pistols it’s decent.  I have it but honestly never use it.  I use the varmint and the sawed off in Close proximity situations.  A bigger rifle with a scope is handy but I don’t usually find much need for a pistol.

Most times I get shot by somebody and they never appear on the mini map so I have no idea where it even came from.

1. This may not be the best advice but i play name your weapon different than most. Because i don't like throwing items, i play name your weapon for kills. Therefore all i use in name ur weapon is the shitty repeater for long distance and the double barrel for up close. There is no best way to play tall trees, i run and gun on all maps but pending on the map depends on my strategy. Tall trees i run to center of map and go into different directions from there but normally i map and cover diffetent areas of the map like fish said but tall trees is different, i run to center but if i see red on map from someone firing i tend to move that direction. And like fish said; hip-fire, dead eye and shotty. I have been practing hip-fire my dual volcanics but it is a lil harder than the shotty.

2. I personally avoid weapon pickups in RDR2 where in RDR1 I always went for henry, evans, and lemat. I stick with my own weapon loadout. I use dual volcanics, my new repeating shotgun, and the varmint. That is my weapon loadout. On name ur weapon, i stick with the repeater carbine and double barrel. My own philosophy is, if i cant master and perfect my skills on the shitty weapons then i have no business picking up stronger weapons. Yes, the mini map is life in my opinion. My mini map is fully expanded and i have about a 50 to 50 ratio of watching the mini map and my whats around me from a 360 perspective. Going back to running around like u said in point one like an idiot. Ur not idiot, i rather run the map then camp, LB in cover, or anyother tactic that takes no skill. Im all about sexiness and swag with my skills (its a montage creation thing) Anyhow, i run the map to and pending on each map like i said will depend on how i run. Now i run the map differently than RDR1. RDR1 i ran straight up and down circling the out-skirts of the map. RDR2 i dont run the outskirts because of shitty spawn points. On most maps i tend to do what fish stated, i spawn and try to hold and cover a general area while moving of course but i find myself going back to my hard RDR1 tactics and circle the outskirts. Also with RDR2, i dont run upright, rather i crouch and run. This tactic is new and its growing on me. I have full 360 view when i crouch because i have better control of the camera, not to mention my look/aim (how fast ur camera turns) sensitivitey is all the way up. So i can scan all directions and turn toward the direction of fire more fluid. If u ever watch my vids, my camera is everywhere. In addition, crouching saves my head alot. As two floof told me, its hard to hit my head in the crouch espeically when i start zig-zagging from side to side and attempting to spin in 360s. This crouching and running tactic works for me and i may not be averaging 20 to 35 kills per match like RDR1 but i take less headshots especially from behind and i feel i have better control of my surrounding and better control of my skills with lots of areas where i can polish and perfect. And since crouching, i believe my deaths per match has decreased.

3. I think Fish may be 50 percent right. I think its a combination of line of sight, firing the weapon, and sprinting. I say this for three reasons. One, from my tactics i explained above and u will see thru out my vids, especially tall trees that i see dots around me as they get within 10 to 20 game meters in all directions. This is why i think line of sight is part of it cause im always looking side to side, front and behind me. For sure firing ur weapon has alot to do with it. I hear firing and see fuzzy red on map. But i also think sprinting may effect it. I say this because in hostile terrority u can see all dots probably because everyone is sprinting a mile to get back on the map. But i noticed some dots in hositle terrortiy tend to disappear when ur moving closer. Therefore i dont sprint, i sprint once i spawn but than crouch as i go into map. Once i sprint and crouch i no longer press a because crouching allows for my character to maintain that pace. My advice, always look around you, be careful on missing and firing to many shots unless u fire to draw folks to u, and avoid the a button, another plus about my crouching tactic because it holds the speed till i break it.

Hope these tips help! And watch one or two of my vids and u will see my awarenesss of all directions and how fast i move in crouch without the a button.

😉

Don’t forget you can set waypoints to help find your way to the middle.  I often set waypoints in tall trees to help keep my bearing, otherwise I could be running in the wrong direction entirely.

2 Tall Trees I think is the main map with that problem.  It sounds obvious but my strategy is to just run towards the sounds of gunfire.
3 You may not be looking behind you enough.  Anybody behind you doesn't appear on the minimap.  You didn't have to look behind you on RDR1 because even people behind you appeared on the minimap.

I do the same.  Isn't it great to get a 6 kill streak with the carbine then someone gets 1 tomahawk kill on you and gets more points?  That mode sucks just like the other new modes imo.

Thank goodness im not the only one 😂

I find using the shitty weapons is more of a challenge on my part. But you right, its great to go on a killing streak in tall trees with the shitty reapter carbine.

Have some god damn faith Brah 😂, im confident that R* will clean up PvP after beta. However,  i dont mind most wanted and i dont mind hostile terrority 🤔

Honestly the best tip I can give anyone for any online game or anything in life for that matter - practice practice practice.  The more you play the better you will get.  Every time you experience something you learn a little more about the common routes, the spawns, where things are, you get a feel for the guns, the headshot, the movement.  Every game I’ve ever played has those early days of ‘oh man I suck.’  But over time it goes away and you can win consistently if you choose to put in the time.

I was saying its stupid that 6 repeater carbine kills is the same as 1 tomahawk kill.  Considering unlike RDR1 you can use deadeye with tomahawks and they're 1 hit kills, so its very easy to get a kill with one.  I think they should be 3 points so you're not required to use them to win the match in that stupid mode.  Jester, a good tip for that mode if you're trying to win is acquire a bit of deadeye then use the 6 point tomahawk with deadeye.  They work as homing tomahawks like that and rarely miss.

And we'll see but I think you might have too much faith in R*.  Was RDR1 your last R* game memory?  Even that game got ruined and became literally unplayable.  Because R* had an email to report cheaters but literally did nothing when people used it.  Then cheaters eventually ruined their whole game.  Modders even said it was easy to fix, but R* never did.

Then MP3 was good at first and R* added overpowered bombsuits and sawed off shotguns which most people agree ruined it or atleast, made it worse/extremely unbalanced.  They also did nothing about cheaters on that game.

GTA5 most people agree was a huge cashgrab by R* where their main focus was selling their shark cards.  They didn't care about cheaters on this game either unless they were cheating to acquire money.  Oh and people waited 6 yrs for R* to open the casino on this game and never got it.  So don't get your hopes up Papa. 😂

It's just mind boggling some of the things that they put in RDR2 and thought was a good idea even if its a beta.  The people on this forum can play it for 30 mins and name so much wrong with it.  Seems like R* spent 7 yrs and 11 months working on the graphics of RDR2 and 1 month on the actual gameplay/modes.

Its not a good look the first thing they changed was lowering the fish payout and adding gold to purchase.  Its like they care more about their microtransactions these days than making a great game.  We have to pay to even make a 5-8 person posse.😂  And use deadeye like in RDR1.  A few of my friends asked me how to use deadeye and I told them you have to pay for the deadeye ability.  We both laughed at how absurd that is.😂😂😂  A few weeks ago I had people spamming votekicks on me for the first time on RDR2 in showdown series because I was winning too much.  Then I got the screen saying I was kicked out, but it didn't actually kick me out the session.  I guess people have to pay to votekick now too.😂

I don't love the game Fortnite but atleast I like how Epic handles that game.  You only use the in game currency to buy cosmetics which add no competitive advantage.  And they have a report player feature and actually ban cheaters.

Yeah, i watched one of ur vids and im glad i did. I personally never liked throwing items, call me a noob but after watching a vid ur posted to ur xbox feed i never thought about using dead eye with throwing items. The one kill u had, i swear u were like a mile away and nailed him. Awesome stuff!

Love ur 7 year graphic comment and 1 month gameplay 😂 I just dont get it. Why change something that wasnt broke. I give them credit, they nailed free roam compared to RDR1. But they went backwards and not forward with pvp 😡

The bow pickup in name your weapon gives 9 points per kill, for those that don't know.  And it has dynamite arrows... so much fun. Grab it whenever you can!

Did you know, if you hold down right trigger with the bow, then all you have to do is lock onto an enemy (left trigger) and let go of the right trigger to get a quicker shot. This works best with "toggle to run" option and ducking low while moving fast/sprinting as well.

Eagle eye is useful for maps that have dust and debris, like on tumbleweed. Back in the day on RDR 1, me and the boys use to use the dust on tumbleweed to move about under the other teams nose (can still be done in RDR 2), so it's kinda funny that Eagle can counter that. I mean, this isn't a game changer, but I think that knowing little stuff like this helps at one point or another.

Also, I coulda sworn I shot a horse in a Showdown and got dead eye from it the other day...

I been subcribing and following this guy on my youtube for a couple of days now, he is like a +145 level and he coordinates special +145 only pvp matches. These guys must be playin non-stop. I thought i was playing alot being +60 🤔 Watch in the vid starting at 9 mins and about 49 seconds. This guy's pre-pvp prep is fucking serious shit. Anyhow, thought u competitive types might enjoy this and take-away a thing or two from it, i know i did. His game play is not bad either. Let me know what u think about his pre-pvp prep 😁

Split point ammo...I have just started to use express ammo and I can see a difference :)

I think its good he does this, I dunno, but having to pay and craft your own ammo the idea of it is kinda growing on me.  After all, in FR if you have to shoot a griefer all you are doing is using and wasting your own money and so are they, so I couldn't see any point in griefing because it costs you, and I don't think these griefers realise that or they are too dumb to.  I started to grief other players as soon as online came out, mate I shot at everything that moved and then quickly realised I gotta pay for this!  Now I can't be bothered, I would rather go fishing and get $100 per half hour than mindlessly shoot other players for no real reason.

But each to their own right?

Yeah, after watching his vid i purchased the split point recipe. Its highly recommended ammo. Till i ran out playing name ur weapon i nailed every repeater carbine headshot.

As stated in previous threads, this game is growing on me. I love the realism.

Here is some info/tips i discovered. Thought i would share the info:

1. U can use dead eye and the bow. The bow is a one-shot; one-kill in all tall tree modes and all hostile terrority matches. Any other pvp mode its not one shot.

2. I highly recommed the follow weapons:

a) I just bought the springfield and fully upgraded it. The damage is insane. I killed a player in the body while dead eye was active cause i fucked up my headshot flick and the body shot with dead eye killed him. Its very very accurate and the range is great. The downfall which i need to get use to leaving the varmint is one shot then reload

b) repeating shotgun. I will never use anyother shotty again.

c) dual mausers are highly recommended.

3. I recommend camp fast travel to all players who play all modes but to my pvp friends, i now have fast travel so if u playin with me u dont need to worry. Its great for all my pvp junkies who need to leave match for whatever reason handle ur free roam business and get back to matches.

4. If you are a pvp player and u go back and forth between sprint and crouch. I recommend switching to standard FPS in ur control settings. It switches the a button to crouch and run to the toggle.

4. My final tip is: if u buy fully covered sleep area, the highest one u can buy while resting in camp ur health/stamina will build.

Not sure if this has been covered or not yet, but here it goes--

Another way to quickly turn around when someone is behind you is to (while not aiming, otherwise you activate dead eye) click the right thumb-stick (to look behind you) followed by the left trigger (to turn around).

And camps work like this; You set the location to where you want your camp. And if you load into a session and another player is in that spot, the camp will be moved somewhere else.  However, you can leave and go into another session, and if no is in that spot, you will be placed there. First come first serve kinda thing.

I'm have been all over that first tip. I get alot of kills from doing that as players dont think i know they coming. But the camp thing is great info. I was telling some of u while playing together that it really pisses me off i come into free roam and my camp is clear across the map. I actually made a comment to one of yall about R* fixing that cause it annoys me as much as tall trees showing up 30 times but that makes sense now. Just leave and join another session. Great tips Dirty Coyote but i promise u that P-Bear is more dirty... 😈 (whip)
