Redemption is to Revolver...

As GTA was to Driver.

There is no comparison.

Revolver is to Redemption as GTA3 is to GTAIV. GTAIV has a more mature feel than GTA3 just like Redemption has a more mature feel than Revolver.

I absolutely love Redemption but I can't help feel that Revolver had some better characters and locations.

Redemption is an overall more fun gaming experience, but Revolver had a much cooler atmosphere. It felt like a true western. Redemption felt like GTA but in 1911. I think they should move back to the 1800s and bring back the Spaghetti Western atmosphere for the next Red Dead-- the outrageous characters, the grainy effect, the stoic, level headed protagonist...

Well it's kinda hard to compare a game that was made in 2004 with one of the same title 6 years later. Technology is more advanced. but overall, 2 very, very great games.

Probably because it was set earlier.

Generally speaking, R* games made during the III-era were all about cliches, while keeping originality and the rags-to-riches formula. Now post-III is all about the originality, but while keeping the themes and the rags-to-riches formula.

This might be why Redemption doesn't exactly have the best melee system out there, because it doesn't fit the whole western theme as much as certain other things would.

Just more of my 2 cents.

Revolver was part a Capcom creation, and so thats partly why it was so good.
Two gaming companies making one game, and so it was bound to be awesome.
And I think Redemption had to live up to some of that title so they went all out.
However, they killed that Spaghetti feel and thats was the best part.
Duel wielding revolvers, killing over-the-top bad guys in Brimstone(Hell) while you fight for revenge.

I don't know.
I like Redemption a lot, even more they included the new characters in the DLC Legends & Killers.
But it just still won't be that cool, or at least not yet.

What can I say? RDR was a game that really motivated me to play it all the way. Revolver was a game I didn't even want to finish. The level in which I had to go after the snake oil merchant and his band of dwarfs was just a tad too clownish for me.

Overall I'm more a fan of the sandbox genre. I don't recall that Revolver had any minigames or sidequests or is my memory failing on me?

I think they could have borrowed more from Revolver to make Redemption better. For example the art style in Revolver feels more western, adding duel wielding revolvers, playing as an indian (the bow & arrow for stealth kills was cool).

Just combine the two.

I wish they did that.
that would of been amazing!
But here we are just talking about it.

I'd like some more of the multiplayer characters to be over-the-top, like in Revolver.
Like that one guy who drank and threw acidic bottles of snake oil(can't think of what he was called) because he had a creepy grin and a somewhat cool fashion.

But thats just me.

I'm hoping for some Single Player DLC with more Revolver cross-overs.

Something I find interesting is that Rockstar employed the same actors to voice the Revolver characters, seems a bit excessive for just Multiplayer... hmmm maybe something in the pipeline.

I'm not holding my breath though, Rockstar is most likely going to continue with the Zombie fest to appease the legions of 13 year olds and take their parents $.
