[TV] Mad Men
« on: July 03, 2010, 08:22:42 PM »
Anyone else watch this great show on AMC? I started it almost a month ago and finished it last week. It was so good that I had to go out and buy all the DVDs before I had finished the first season online.

My my, I had never thought to meet another Mad Men fan on the RDR boards! Yes, I love the show too. Great stuff, you can't help but be awestruck by the character of Don Draper. His style, the way he sips his whiskey, his short cigarettes... Damn.

I am (was?) a huge Mad Men fan, although I stopped following the series at some point during Season 3 (not sure why; just sorta fell out of it). The writing was fantastic at first, but it started to get cumbersome as the series progressed.

Show content for Hiden:
I found the whole progressive twist with Draper stealing the identity of his dead army comrade to be a bit too convoluted. Relationships between characters from that point on just seemed so shallow and cardboard-ish. I really didn't give a damn about any of the characters.

Aw come on, Peggy?! She's one of the most interesting characters I've seen in a show so far. The way her evolution is documented, especially when she's... Well, you know.
