F.A Cup Weekend

Tonight:
West Ham United V Manchester City

Tomorrow
All the others........ including the big one.

Everton vs Leicester

MATCH FACTS FROM PAST MEETINGS

Everton have lost just one of their past 11 FA Cup games at Goodison Park (W8, D2), with six of those coming against top-flight opposition.

Leicester have suffered defeat in each of their previous two FA Cup meetings with Everton (3-2 in 1933 and 3-1 in 1968).

The Toffees' most recent FA Cup game came back in April, where they lost 2-1 against Manchester United in the semi-final at Wembley.

Leicester have been eliminated in the third round of this competition in two of the past three seasons, both times at the hands of Premier League teams
(Stoke in 2013-14 and Tottenham in 2015-16).

Romelu Lukaku has scored six goals in his past six FA Cup appearances, although Everton have won on just two of those occasions (D2, L2).

The Foxes have kept only one clean sheet in their past 16 away games in this competition.

I will be keeping tabs on the action at Stamford Bridge...... as the Posh take on Chelsea.

If it was my call then he'd still be in charge and if we got relegated, I'd have still kept him on.

The owners have been with us for 6 years now and they've been nothing short of brilliant the entire time. There's no way on earth we would have won the league without them so I'm not going to criticise this one decision that I don't agree with.

Even if we get relegated and fade back into obscurity, we've still achieved more in the past year than we did in the previous 132.

You've still achieved more than most teams in England can ever dream of. Speaking as an outsider watching from Australia, its almost boring that it seems that only maybe 6 clubs ever have a chance to win the league. We're used to codes which have cycles and a team that is weak this year, might be a strong team in 5 years time. Our draft regulations and salary caps are all designed to try and make as even a competition as possible. So it was amazing to see such a story happen in a comp where no one thought it could happen.
Title: Re: Sports Central
Post by: Ferguson99 on February 27, 2017, 01:32:22 PM
No disrespect to Mr Silebyboy........ but the way the Leicester City owners treated Claudio Ranieri, I want City to get relegated.

They sack a manager for putting Leicester in the spotlight all over the World, making them a well famous club for an amazing season of winning the Premiership with a striker that cost less then a million from a non league club Fleetwood town.

With all the fame Claudio bought to the club, he has earnt the chance to stay at Leicester till he sees fit to move on....... and if City did get relegated under his control. I am sure that would of bounced them straight back up.

Title: Re: Sports Central
Post by: silebyboy on February 27, 2017, 04:38:59 PM
I can understand that Fergi. I felt the same way a couple of years back when Southampton sacked Nigel Adkins.

Just remember that the club had already won 7 and drawn 1 of their past 9 games prior to Ranieri's arrival and were riding the crest of a wave, plus he didn't sign a single one of the players who were in the regular starting 11. Whilst he certainly played an integral part, some people seem to imply he won the league single handedly which is far from true.

The league table will look much better after tonight anyway. Craig Shakespeare's blue army!

You can buy as many strikers as you like but you can't play them all at once.

Best way to look at it (I think) is just to appreciate what they do for the club whilst with you. I certainly hold no grudges against Kante, I love the little fella. We'd have never won the league without him.

Bastards!!

At first I looked at the Leicester result and thought, well that was a good one. Why is he angry? Then I saw the Everton result. That's harsh man.

I haven't been able to follow the EPL this year as much as I usually do. The TV network its on has changed as Foxtel (the pay TV network) lost the rights to Fetch TV, which is more of a streaming service. And although I also have Fetch TV as part of my internet package to watch it I have to change some cables and inputs on the TV. Its not a major drama but its more I can't easily set reminders when I'm watching other shows and I usually just end up forgetting when a bunch of the matches are on.

The Big One on Sunday

Everton vs Leicester City

TEAM NEWS
Everton defender Ashley Williams is suspended as a result of his red card at Manchester United on Tuesday.

Morgan Schneiderlin could return from a calf problem but James McCarthy and Aaron Lennon are still unavailable, along with long-term absentees Seamus Coleman and Ramiro Funes Mori.
Leicester City remain without captain Wes Morgan and midfielder Papy Mendy because of injuries.
Manager Craig Shakespeare has hinted at making changes to prevent fatigue.

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY
Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare: "There hasn't been any Champions League talk. It hasn't been banned, it's just all about keeping the run going against Everton.
"It'll be a tough game. They're a good side, strong at home, well organised and have a goal threat too."

Everton manager Ronald Koeman: "We are fighting for European football. I expect if we get six points from our next two home games, we will fight for fifth and sixth place in the table.
"I don't understand the difference [in Leicester's form since Claudio Ranieri was sacked]. It's the same players. Maybe the manager is keeping the team the same as last season. We expect a tough opponent."

Being English (as something that is of great importance to you, when it suits), let's hope so.

Will Lakaku perform even better when he's at a club that he actually wants to play for?

It annoys me that the rights for the EPL changed hands last year. Its no longer on the PayTV network Foxtel (which I get) but now on another service with a Telco. I also get this service but because I use Foxtel as a passthrough to my Xbox ("Xbox watch TV") if I want to watch the EPL I need to change the source, and therefore need to remember if there is a match I wanna watch. The actual service of it and the interface is also a bit weird compared to what I'm used to.

As such I haven't watched nearly as many matches this year than I normally do.

After we lost to Brazil in 2002, I lost interest very quickly. I still tune in for tournaments though.

If Rooney scores in his next game you'll be calling him the messiah. Fickle football fans.

I have been so out of it in terms of the EPL the last couple of seasons. The TV channel who owns the rights changed from last season and so now instead of being on a very convenient cable TV box which I always watch, I need to switch to another streaming service box and therefore have to plug in the ethernet which is usually attached to a console or something. It also has worse coverage but does cover pretty much all games on like 5-6 different channels.

If I ever get a wired connection to my room (instead of just using powerline adapaters) I might look at installing a hub so I can have my PC, two consoles and two cable boxes all connected at the same time.

Here Here

Man City still want to buy someone who scores 2 goals.
Mourinho is still more interested in playing Mr Cool and using Man U to archieve it.
Kopites still a bunch of "Wannbe's"  thinking this is there season to win the Prem.
Chelsea is still a toy box for that Russian.
West Ham fans stiil being stroppy, even though they have the most famous stadium in England.
Arsene Wenger still on borrowed time at Arsenal.

I think there is one slightly closer actually, The Barley Mow. It’s a while since I’ve been that end of town.

The Last Plantagenet is well know as the boozer that everybody has their first pint in on match day once they get off the train though.

I’m not sure you’ll be able to get tickets. I haven’t tried but heard people moaning about not being able to get them.

Maguire is getting some company for England...…….. is Vardy still in.

Leicester City's Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray have been added to the England squad for Tuesday's friendly against Switzerland.

James Maddison will be next. It’s a shame Vardy has chosen not to play for England anymore.
