Red Dead Redemption 2 / Re: Red Dead Online

I wonder if that’s just in free roam, or if there will be 32 people in gang matches?  16 man teams?  That’s nuts.  32 man ffa?

32 sticks of dynamite thrown...….. and the game crashes,  restart your PS4

Comeatmebrah throws like 36 at a time on his own.  Not a problem

Even if it wasn’t straight from rockstar, IGN is one of the top sources and are one of the handful of outlets that have actually played the game.  You can most likely trust what they say is in the game.

Yeah I had just posted this when IGN posted the fishing pics lol

I’d welcome in game fishing, although I’ve had mixed feelings about it in the past. Fishing in Ocarina of time was great but in Stardew Valley, it was boring. I imagine that Rockstar will nail it though.

And yeah, OoT is a prime example of fun in game fishing.  Twilight princess had it too.  Tho TP wasn’t as good of a game, the fishing was fun.  It was sorely missing in breath of the wild.

Rockstar just released a tidbit that there are over 200 species in RDR2.  That is cool, but one thing in particular that caught my eye was this sturgeon.  A cool fish that can get pretty big IRL.  There are also some other fish behind it, including bass.

This makes me think, why bother being so detailed with your fish if you’re not going to be swimming or fishing?  It’s possible they’re just being detailed, I mean they made horse balls that shrink when it’s cold - but wouldn’t fishing be cool?  Hunting was already a big part of RDR and they have already stated that food and providing are an important part of camp life.  So it’s not unlikely that fishing will be present.

As an avid real life fisherman, this idea is pretty exciting.  Maybe some online fishing stats would even be cool, so I can live up to my name? :D

What do you think?

Red Dead Redemption 2 / RDR podcast?
« on: September 22, 2018, 07:43:43 PM »
We should do a podcast.  I’ve been thinking about trying to start one, but I haven’t got a lot of time or equipment and have never done one - it also would be nice to have more than one person on it.  Is there anyone here with some experience?

Sounds like there are sites that will host them for free.

Not only would it be fun but it also might bring some people in.

Everyone concerned about activity should be posting threads.  People who do come back are going to need somewhere to post.  The more ideas flowing around the better. :)

Red Dead Redemption 2 / Western movie references
« on: September 22, 2018, 04:52:49 PM »
What are your favorite ones westerns that you want to see referenced?  More like an homage or tribute, than an obvious mention.

I’m a huge western fan, and love all the obvious ones.  I hope they reference some lesser known westerns so we have to work to find them all.

Some of my Very favorites are the assasination of Jesse James,  conagher, open range, tombstone, butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid, and lonesome dove.

Any favorites you hope to see?

Red Dead Redemption 2 / NPC interaction

a feature/concept that is truly underrated.  More side quests and things to find and do, the more real and immersive a game will feel.    I really hope to see a lot of those little sidequests that have nothing to do with the main story.  Rockstar has always done this well, but I hope to see a lot of true western stories and moments, and hopefully detailed and involved like the “I know you” side quest was, as a random example.  I want to get into a range war with a random rancher defending his land, or help some Comanche renegades fight off a union regiment.  Or help a boom town sheriff clean up his town.   Little moments that are unrelated to the story always seem to go further and help set the tone more than the main story.

Yeah, I meant John, lol

Red Dead Redemption 2 / A theory about the ending (possible spoilers)
« on: September 11, 2018, 09:19:36 PM »
Not really a theory as there’s no evidence to support it - more of a random prediction:

Many westerns have the main character die in the end or ride off in the sunset.  RDR did this when John died. But it creates a problem when you want to keep playing, so they fixed this by you continuing on as Jack Marston...

My idea is if Arthur Morgan dies in the end,or maybe in a twist just rides off and could continue playing on as John Marston.  It seems like an almost poetic twist and would make a lot of fans happy to play as John again.

Would you like this idea or do you hope Our protagonist survives this time?

Red Dead Redemption 2 / How do you feel about the timeline placement?
« on: September 11, 2018, 09:14:34 PM »
We’ve known it’s been a prequel for a while now, but here recently it was revealed that Jack Marston is in the game. This means it takes place not so long before the events of RDR.  Like right before it almost.

I’m excited regardless, but I was really hoping to go further back into the old west.  When the Indian wars were happening, when it was all young and fresh and the West was still truly wild.  The one thing that bugged me about RDR was that it seemed to be the end of the era, and it seems they are going for the same theme again - the end of dutch and his gang’s freedom.  They are being hunted and it’s the end of the line.

Are you happy with less of a time jump than expected and more of a direct prequel?

I've never played an active MP game that didnt have bugs at first.  Even COD always has issues at first.

They'll crash, and then I can comfortably play single player without feeling like I'm losing out on a chance to get better.

I'll be hitting up MP first and playing single player when the servers inevitably crash from the activity.

A wild duck appeared!

Arent those pics from gta 5?

So battle royale = free for all and money grab = grab the bag? Why change that?

"According to the notes, Red Dead Redemption 2’s online component will feature ‘Battle Royale’, ‘Revive and Survive’ and ‘Money Grab’ modes."

"Red Dead Redemption 2 will allow you to play both the main campaign and multiplayer in first-person. The document states the game will have bespoke animations to fit the style."
