It's soooo strange that I have about zero desire to even log in to see the updates, like when you have a huge crush on someone and it feels like it's going to last forever and then one day it's just... gone. Not a great feeling, I'm all out of love for RDO... at this point I'm only hoping for some Arthur, Sadie, Charles DLC.

Bittersweet.

Meanwhile I'm like the jaded spouse that goes through the motions and dwells on past glory.

For a second there I thought R* nerfed this forum too.

Who is still playing this? Is anybody really expecting them to turn it around?

It will never be the glory days of RDR but I still enjoy it for what it is worth, I'm at level 193 now  :o but I admit the PvP was really a struggle recently and I could only do a handful of games before having to drop out as it was getting a bit dull especially, the new spoils of war mode is more akin to hold your own which is encouraging -more of the same please R*.

I think gun rush is completely unrelated to any bug / current content fixes.  It's not as simple as saying " they did this instead of that", it was clearly already on the way independent of other things.

I wish they would have released it not in beta form, but whatcha gonna do?  Multiplayer games in general and free roam games in particular have soooo many variables, that when you miss the mark you can really really miss the mark.  Compounding the problem is Rockstars well-established pattern of being tight-lipped.  I don't think that serves them as well as it used to.  So much good will could be gained by some transparency.

Spot on floof. If the plan is to, say, add private sessions in 1 month, 6 months, 2 years, never... tell us. If they are working on fixes for spawn points gives us a general time frame for implementation. Or if the game is what it is and all they are going to do is just add content then come clean and gives us all a heads up. This isn't Fallout 76 (from what I hear), but this is quickly heading in a similar direction. Honesty and transparency would go a long long way.

I haven't turned on RDO in over a month. Single player still holds my interest, but RDO is dead for me.

And it might be time for some real talk. Take a look at this forum. Are there any new forum members? Has activity picked up like many of us had expected (hoped)? A few of us came back, but still so many former regulars just aren't motivated to post anymore. RDO has been, to this point, a monumental failure. I thought GTAV PvP was poor. I couldn't believe how bad it was. RDR was soo good I just assumed devs would use that as their starting point. But when they went in a completely different direction it blew my mind. GTAV's saving grace is that online had a ton of other things to do by yourself or with your crew. Max Payne PvP felt better than GTAV, but for me it was still poor. New players had NO SHOT against people who had ample time to level up and acquire high powered load outs. And now RDO. The entire experience, at best, is "blah." But often very frustrating and very unrewarding. Using the term "Beta" is a massive cop-out. At this point very little can be done to change the feel of the game. What we have is essentially what we will be getting. Adding content won't save this thing. It needs an overhaul. A complete overhaul.

Rockstar need to fire ANYONE/EVERYONE connected to the decision making portion of RDO. IMO, it's that bad.

Soooo, RDR3 coming to an XboxTWO in 2026? Can't wait......

I’m sorry to hear a fan of the series has become this disenchanted with RDO, you are far from the only player to ‘hang up their spurs’  but at the risk of sounding like a foolish optimist all is not lost, we have be gathering a fairly large group of people in our party chats, Facebook messenger, WhatsApp , and even Instagram, yes the forum is very quiet but there is a fairly thriving community that seem to be using other methods of communication , we have been trying to funnel them to this forum with very limited success.
Not to sound contrary Jester I have become more accustomed to RDR2, I agree that the foundation for a great experience was in R*’s lap , they had an excellent gameplay system to export to their new engine, but opted for a total overhaul and in fact seemed to base the gameplay on GTAV (which I was never a big fan of).
My point being, it’s not perfect, yet I am still personally finding enjoyment, mainly it has to be said because of the group of regular players I see, if I was a lone wolf I would forget about this game so fast

I use slow and steady , the head shot protection is handy , but I’ve been rolling with “quite an inspiration” for team games (when DE is active your team mates heal - TBH In the land of the headshot this is pretty ineffective)


I am still experimenting with cards , I leveled the short game, winning streak and I’m working on necessity breeds (closer to death you deal more damage)

I had eye for an eye but struggled to see the benefit (Kills restore DE) also  strange medication ( you heal when you deal damage) is dubious because if I get killed it is by HS rather than body shots so healing cards are pretty underwhelming IMO.

I had some great games last night and the usual laughs and mayhem with  PapaB, Papa J, Floof, Inhuman Trifixia, HvT, Fisherman, Billyboi, Lemon, UTB, (sorry if I left anyone out) I am not a fan of gun rush, but I’ll give it a go, I’m actually looking forward to some horse racing this weekend just to change things up. I’m also on a mission to get quite an inspiration to level three, I want to see how worthwhile it is in PvP , also I need to restock my supply of ‘splody ammo as I want to blow some folks up, I spent the gold now to make some people explode.

I run out of dead eye pretty quick, even when using eye for an eye and unblinking eye.

Yeah, SnS hasn't caused much frustration for me, it adds another tactical element that players need to be aware of, example, you encounter a player, they have slow and steady, you have to figure out how to counter, try and get the drop on them? slug it out if you have slow and steady yourself? close the distance and get into shotgun range? dynamite them? dive and or take cover waiting for their dead eye to drain?

Does anybody have some tips on the following:

1. Best way to play Name your Weapon. I run around like an idiot with the Tomahawk and get hammered.
2. How to "find/run into/locate" more players in game. I spend a vast majority of games just running around the map, but I have trouble finding players. As an example in a Name Your Weapon game this past weekend Kazzy went something like 18-9 (so 27 player interactions) and I went 4-7 (11 player interactions). I had the Tomohawk, but still I was always on the move. And some dude went 32-5. How the hell is he/she finding that many players in such a short game?
3. Does anybody have concrete knowledge of how the mini map works in PvP games? I find myself instinctively looking at it throughout and generally (short of the most wanted game) by the time I see anything on the map it's behind me and too late. Most times I get shot by somebody and they never appear on the mini map so I have no idea where it even came from.

(I too am amazed at the scores some folks can achieve in name your weapon), For what it's worth here's my take:


1.) Save the tomahawk for players that are either unaware of your approach, engaged in heir own duel, or pennies from heaven AFK. The double barrel should be your default, close the distance and don't forget hip fire can save your bacon in a tight spot.
2.) I have this issue as well, I tend to gravitate toward weapon pick up spawn areas, keep an eye for the "X" icon for recent kills, there should hopefully be an enemy near by, as Brah said in another thread set your mini map / radar to the expanded version as a default so you don't have to constantly expand it. If you are feeling particular sneaky you can fire your weapon, in the air or wherever to draw attention to yourself and bring the enemy to you.
3.) I have a feeling the mini map works of off a line of sight set up, and vicinity to gun shots  again I'm not entirely sure and I'm happy to be corrected, ideas peeps?

That ability card is not so OP as everyone makes it out to be   it stops one shot per match, you do not respawn with a hat whenever you die, additionally, if the next match is ffa you still won't have a hat, until you change your outfit or the game puts you in an outfit for a team.
If a player is eating multiple headshots that is lag, not cards, nothing there makes someone a terminator.

They seem to have thrown out the RDR architecture and based the game on GTAV , I think once you accept that RDR is gone , as disappointing and frustrating as that acceptance is you can slowly appreciate RDR2 for what it is. They had it so right with RDR,  but remember we hadn’t seen anything like it before and we were all blown away. Now with RDR2 we have its predecessor to benchmark the quality of the latest iteration against, I would love to hear an explanation from R* to state why they have taken the direction that they have.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fanboy , I can see the flaws, RDR2 can’t live up to the impossible standards set by RDR, but it is worthy of my time as I have a great group that I play with, I’m hopeful that we will see improvements but I’m not naive to expect a massive overhaul.

What is the etiquette for inviting someone to play with a party?
My brother (basically life long friend) OMpa3 is a cool guy, but new to online gaming and PVP.
He is awesome, but travels constantly for work so his attendence would be spotty at best.

The way I see it , the more the merrier, if you vouch them, then  they must be dead on.
