Red Dead Redemption 2 / RDR2's Game Packaging XBOX/PS4 (Leak)
« on: October 17, 2018, 01:33:06 PM »

Hi, Rdeyd1!  Well, I hope you get an Xbox 1 because I need more xbox friends from this forum!  Don't listen to Sile because he will pressure you into getting a PS4 (lol, just kidding)!

Red Dead Redemption 2 / Re: Online Character
« on: October 09, 2018, 06:21:01 PM »
I really hope that RDR2 online has a customization feature similar to GTAV online...maybe an even better and improved version, too!  I am hoping to have the option to make more than one character as well.  For a female character, I'd like to have her look and style similar to Sharon Stone from The Quick and the Dead movie. For a male character, I would have him look like either Clint Eastwood or John Marston. So looking forward to all the different customizations we can do not only for our character, but for our horses and guns.

As you may or may not have heard, Rockstar has allowed previews of 5 -6 hours of very detailed game play to several gaming websites....Gamespot, IGN and Game Informer along with a few others.  These reviews, I'm told, have the first 5 hours of the game and are ridden with spoilers.  I have read only a few sentences from one article and found one spoiler already.

I WILL NOT be posting anything about this anywhere...not here, not on Twitter, Facebook or Discord. I, personally, don't want the game spoiled in any way as I am sure none of you want that either.

I am ready to play the game! I do not need any more info to play the story outside of some new screenshots and small generalized info about game play or the game itself.

At this point, I would like more info on Red Dead Online,....but, that possibly might not come until after release.

Yes, Jester!  We might just have all new buildings we can try rooftopping on! And, since it's confirmed that New Austin is returning...we need to try and see if the original buildings are still do-able!  First, we most likely will have to get our horse's bond leveled up. Don't want a skiddish horse up on a roof!

LOLing at Pug...."we need your stabbiness"

OMG!  Soo hyped right now!  I am ready to play this game NOW! I don't need to see anymore videos or screenshots.....I want it NOW! lol

Season 9 is starting early this year.  Not really happy with the direction this one is heading for.  First we lost we are going to lose Rick.

Guess I will watch anyway....catching up with season 8 on Netflix right now. I'm so behind I forgot where I left off, so started with Episode 1....8 down 8 more to go!

Has anyone else pre-ordered digitally on Xbox?  I have a download date of 11pm 10/25. But I keep hearing reports of earlier pre-load early as a week or 2 before release. I want to know how is this possible???? I know it won't be playable until midnight, but it would be really nice to have it all ready instead of waiting that night. This game is literally the very first game that I've pre-ordered digitally, so I'm not real familiar how this works.

This is official news, Ferg.  It was posted by Rockstar Games on Twitter.

A lot of news gets posted there first and then some, but not all, is posted on the Newswire and on the official Red Dead Redemption 2 site.

Picked out a few interesting details from IGN....

After a bank job gone wrong - which presumably opens the game - Dutch van der Linde and his gang have holed up in the Grizzlies, a bank of mountains along the north of the game’s map. Like GTA 5’s North Yankton, it’s a constrained area designed to teach players who’s who and what’s what. Also it’s snowy. Unlike GTA 5, we’ll be able to return here later - this is a gateway to the world, not an island away from it.

Rockstar says the world opens up in its entirety after that opening section is through - no locked-off Mexico sections this time around, it seems.

It’s a relatively minor change amidst the scale of this game, but Red Dead 2’s option to name your horse speaks to the bond the developers feel you should have with yours. Every breed has different strengths and weaknesses, acts as an overflow inventory for anything Arthur can’t carry, even becomes a lost-and-found (if Arthur loses his hat or gets disarmed, the dropped item will reappear in the saddle). You’ll be relying on your animal - and the better you treat it, the better it’ll treat you. Feeding and grooming your horse builds its level of affection towards you, governing whether they’ll respond to your whistles, if they’ll buck at gunfire, even whether they can perform dressage.

Most central buildings here seem to have a function - from posting your own bounty at the Post Office to call off a manhunt, or managing some of the frankly ludicrous amount of customisation of your weapons and horse in the Gun Store and Stables.

You can shave down individual parts of Arthur’s face to various lengths, essentially creating totally custom beards.

Red Dead 2’s new dialogue system is governed by two button presses at a time - look at any living creature with your guns holstered and hold L2, and a miniature menu of possible interactions appears.
If that’s your horse, you can check its stats, feed it, calm it, or groom it. If it’s possible hunting prey, you can study its breed, adding it to a compendium, and check what spoils it might offer...

Gunplay immediately feels like a step up from even GTA 5 - reduced ammo counts on antiquated weaponry makes every shot mean more, and that’s matched by a real kick to everything in your arsenal...
The addition of multiple ammo types for your weapons - fire arrows, split-point bullets, and the like - also promises a level of invention to how you go about combat that hasn’t been apparent before.

Speaking of hunting, it remains a major source of income, but now gains extra importance because of new recipes and crafting options. Arthur can set up a personal camp for himself to cook his spoils - turning them into meals for either himself or his horse, or use loot from enemies and wildlife alike to make new ammo or items.

The camp, like so much I’ve seen today, is technically optional. The only punishment I’ll get for not helping out the gang outside of story missions is a scolding if I ever run into another member. But there are rewards - Arthur’s tent can be upgraded to become a fast travel point, for example. It’s also a condensed settlement of sorts - Arthur can change his outfits here, which can have a real benefit.

It's also notable that in Red Dead Redemption 2 you can physically see all your weapons on Arthur's character model--you can hold only hold two sidearms and two long weapons (along with a knife, lasso, and throwables), and when switching from a rifle to a sidearm Arthur would simply hold his rifle in one hand while he aimed his pistol with the other. Dual wielding is also an option later in the game....Gamespot
Red Dead Redemption 2 still features a similar kind of auto-aim assistance to the previous game, whereby zooming in with the left shoulder button will snap your cursor to an enemy--helpful because we found bodies hard to make out amongst the forests' dense foliage, and we didn't have a scoped weapon. We were reminded again how familiar shooting felt to Red Dead Redemption, but it was nonetheless still satisfying to confidently line up a string of headshots with the bow using Dead Eye........Gamespot

Red Dead Redemption 2 / Rockstar shares new details with gaming websites!
« on: September 20, 2018, 01:52:38 PM »
If you haven't been on Twitter lately, Rockstar has shared several interviews with popular gaming sites today. I've made a list, if you guys haven't seen them all yet and I have pointed out some interesting details that they have shared after playing a demo of Red Dead Redemption 2! There is so much! I have not read all of the articles yet, but I am working on it!  I'm actually almost afraid to play this game now after reading the sounds soooo in depth! It's not going to be like any game I've ever played! I'm excited and apprehensive at the same time!

Here is the list of gaming sites that Rockstar has shared this info far. What are you most surprised to hear about? What returning/enhanced features are you happy to see again?  What new features are you excited about the most?

  • Gamespot
  • IGN
  • GamesRadar
  • Verge
  • Polygon
  • Kotaku
  • GameInformer
  • The Independent
  • VG247
  • PressStartAustralia

***WARNING***  Some articles have slight spoilers... depending on how much you want to know or not. Some will give a little bit of mission details but won't talk about the entire mission, for example. So they were very considerate in their report. Rockstar most likely made sure that they only let them reveal so much anyway.

Red Dead Redemption 2 / Not much longer now! Who's HYPED??!!
« on: September 01, 2018, 12:59:46 PM »
Well everyone, we can now officially say that we will be playing RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2.....NEXT MONTH!

Doesn't that sound better than 56 days away or 8 weeks away? We just have to get through September now. What is everyone doing to keep occupied?  Playing RDR? Playing other games?  Marking your days off the calendar?  How many times have you watched the gameplay trailer? Have we all asked for time off during that first week of release?

Hopefully we will see the next gameplay trailer very soon!

Since I have pre-ordered digitally it said that the download will be available on 10/25 @ 11:00 pm, so I am going to be downloading it at that time for sure and then it will probably turn into an all-nighter with lots of coffee! LOL! Also, thinking about requesting off on the 25th and 26th. Most likely will be playing the hell out of it daily!  Which reminds me....should have an extra supply of rechargeable batteries for the controller!

You know, I used to think the same way...I always preferred a physical copy.  Now I am getting lazy, I like to just be able to click the little tile on the screen instead of getting up to change the disc.  LOL, I lazy I am!  And, if I play this game as much as I played the first RDR (well, of course I will and more) I don't want the disc to get scratched up and chipped like my old RDR. Also, I have 2 Xboxes now and game share with the hubby (and another friend), so it's like getting 2 games for the price of one!

Well....I think it was up only for a very short time because now it is gone from the Xbox/Microsoft store! Someone made a boo boo! I mean there was something in the store before this but now there is absolutely NOTHING for RDR2 even after trying to search for it.

I heard about it on youtube (LegacyKillaHD) and quickly went to check it out and it was in the Xbox store earlier today.

Well, one thing is sure....this info will be confirmed very soon it seems! It's getting closer, guys!

Excited about the War horse making a return....just hope they get rid of those crazy horse eyes! LOL!
