I don't know how reputable this website is, but I just noticed this article that seems to be an update to Craig's find. It was posted yesterday, and it adds that a RDR remastered edition will be released on XBO, PS4, and PC; with a release date that has been allegedly set for March 2015.   ???

General discussion / The fight in all men
« on: August 20, 2014, 07:16:55 PM »
I never really played single player, but I wanted to share some interesting reading I came across on R* support forum.  Full credit goes to ReddPyramid.

The fight in all men

This isn't a complaint, or a request for free stuff, or any of those sorts of things.  I am a very pleased customer, but I would like to talk about how much I loved the game.  There were glitches and bugs, of course, but my father had a good saying about those, which I think holds true here: The Aspiration to Greatness.  The better a game is, the more realistic it tries to be, the more work that goes into it, the more bugs and glitches there will be.  Bugs aren't always a sign of a poor game, they are, adversely, a sign of a game trying to be greater than the technology can allow for.  You games seem to fall in this category, much like Bethesda's Elder Scrolls titles.

Moving on, I just wanted to say that, even being four years late to the party, mostly due to budgeting and not being able to afford games as often as I would like, I really enjoyed the game.  I had major things spoiled for me, as things will be when you wait four years before trying them, and I still played it, and enjoyed every last minute of it, even the time spent swearing because of a difficult mission.  John's execution especially got to me.  I took down five of them with me, but I knew, I knew what was going to happen.  I would be lying if I said it didn't hit me where I lived.  A writer's greatest aspiration is to evoke emotion in the reader, or viewer, and that did.

But about Jack.  I would like to begin by relating a story I once heard, supposedly attributed to Native Americans.

One day in the village, a young boy paused in his doings to see the village Elder sitting by himself, on his face a look of extreme concentration.  Curious, the boy went to the Elder, and after a respectful few moments of silence, his curiosity finally got the better of him.  He asked, "What are you doing?"
To which the Elder replied, "There is a fight in me as there is a fight in all men."  After a moment, of silence from the boy, he continued, "Within each man are two wolves.  A white wolf, which is compassion, kindness, love, and joy.  And a black wolf, which is hatred, anger, bitterness, and resentment."
The boy's eyes grew large as he imagined the beasts fighting, the snapping white teeth, the grappling paws.  Low and awed, he asked, "Elder, which wolf will win?"
The Elder looked to the boy, took his measure, and answered softly, "The one that you feed."  And he stood and walked away, leaving the boy to ponder the wisdom of it.

What does this have to do with Jack?  Well, although my heart wasn't much in it at first, I played as Jack, I went and got Ross, as he was certain to have done [what did that agent really think would happen if he left the boy alive?  That he would leave him alone?  That he could honestly retire to a lakeside cabin with his wife and live a peaceful life?  Not a chance].  And I did a few gang missions with him, and some of his dialogue got me to thinking.  Especially the line, "I have nothing to live for anyway."

I would really like to see a sequel with an older Jack, but not necessarily a wiser one.  Like all men, a battle rages inside him; his bitterness at what happened to his family, at the life he was left to, versus what happiness or joy he could make for himself now that all's said and done.  It may not be too plausible, as the game was set in the dying days of the West, but what I would like to see is Jack's path.  It would be up to the player, of course, honor and fame systems would probably remain the same or be similar.

Does Jack let the black wolf win and swallow little pieces of his soul, his years, his self, or does he feed the white wolf, and try to make a life for himself?

Does he help the outlaw gangs and fight against the law, or does he take the path of the white and fight the gangs on the side of the law?  Does he help people or hurt them?  It would all be up to the player.

You have shown me that you are more than capable of making wonderful games with gripping stories, you made me care about a filthy scarred up cowboy in spite of everything [was never a fan of Westerns, wouldn't you know it?], and have opened the doors for me to a whole new genre.

In short, I would like to thank you again, and just thought I would share that idea with you. It isn't much, but I can almost see it. In the mean time, I think I'll start the game again, wiser than I was before, and maybe drag my feet a bit on beating it this time [I'm not sure my heart can take that heartbreaking, wheezing death again so soon].

Multiplayer General Discussion / Re: Red dead is broken again?!

I don't know if this has been posted here but Red Harlow on the fix RDR Facebook page linked the following statement regarding Red Dead's issues caused by glitchers, namely Glitched Matrix.
I noticed this development while following the R* RDR support forum.  Ruining the fun for the 50-100 either die hard veterans that still have love for the game or the newbies that just bought it on Xbox.  :(
He's just an attention whore.
This is exactly what has kept me from posting anything on here that I've read of this matter from the R* support page.
I don't think they will, but one can hope their collective efforts are focused on a new ( *goes for bath*) dead.
R* says they are looking into the matter.  They have video/hard evidence.  This may be a test to see if R* will actually act on what they say they are giving attention to.  This may be an "old game" per se, but if it is still being sold in stores, it should be supported.  It may (at least for me) have an impact on the future outcome of their up-and-coming multiplayer games.

-This forum is the equivalent of what would be. (if it were called

-It should be renamed

-It should include a gta forum as it always has.

-It would not be any different if named except have a better, more relevant name.

-It would be the equivalent of what GTAF has been for the GTA franchise for the last 4 years, except at a smaller scale. (There has only been 2 Red Dead Games)

Actually IMHO, I believe Xbox = Android, because of the open source bugginess and vulnerabilities (modding, etc.).  And, PS3 (Sony) is very much like iPhone (Apple).  Rock solid and proprietary.

Grand Theft Auto V / Re: Grand Theft Auto V
« on: July 09, 2013, 07:16:32 PM »
I thought this was a great post from the thread you started, Kev:

Today the Grand Theft Auto V gameplay trailer was released, and it looks fucking awesome. The multiple different, detailed parts of the open world alone are amazing. The beaches now look realistic and not shitty, the mountain ranges look sick (and the ability to drive ATVs), and the city parts of Southern California look amazing as well. The ability to drive planes/jets is another great add on, because people have always wanted to be able to fly the planes in the airport in GTA IV. The hunting part of the game looks pretty damn cool as well, oh and the ability to scuba dive, play golf, tennis, and buy and customize fast cars.

I'm not sure how I feel about having 3 protagonists that you play with. The campaign mode in GTA IV was long enough for me alone with Niko Bellic -- I'm wondering if each main character will have his own plot entirely (making it 3 times as long as GTA IV, b/c of 3 plots w/ each character) or if for the most part, they work together but each will have his own side missions (the more likely possibility, as well as the one I'm hoping for). There also seems to be more decision making on the players' behalf, so there may be different outcomes later on (at one point in the trailer, they said you could either go in a mission the smart way, or the dumb and loud way, which could potentially kill more people..also, you can choose how to execute someone, and with whom).

The game looked sick before this trailer was released, but after this, it looks amazing. My favorite part is the huge open world, with its variety of locations. What are your opinions?

I would post on here more often if I didn't have to dig through the nonsense, and take the time to find to decent content. I feel alienated most of the time. I like BMD's idea of like/dislike option. It makes sense to me, and I think it is worth trying out. If likes were modded in here, then dislikes can be modded in here the same.

Multiplayer General Discussion / Re: Is Teamkilling Justified?
« on: June 19, 2013, 07:17:52 PM »
I'll team kill in both of these situations.

I've also team killed people off of canons before when our team is winning by a large margin, we're up like 6:3 on teammates and the guy has been camped there cannoning the other team all match. I'd rather kill him and have him vote to kick me then have the remaining 3 people (others already left) leave so the next round has less players (one of those being a douche who camps on a cannon).
I do this as well. I think we are forced to be this way or else the room will totally empty.   :-\

I feel as though when a friend of mine that lags regularly and is on my team, I have an unfair advantage. Even, if others on the opposing team lag, I get a sour feeling. I would rather be against them, than with them to be honest. I feel as though when I first discovered lag,  it became my enemy. I'm not saying that friends of mine that lag are my enemies. I just mean that I would rather be the underdog and lose than be the favorite and win. Of course as the underdog, I would rather win than lose. But, it's not satisfying for me to win as the favorite. I am not trying to be ethical. I just want to enjoy my gaming time, and have fun. I guess what I'm getting at is, do you have a friend that you only like to face, and not team up with? I do. :)

Another one for the shout out box:  Something R* will never fully understand:  What lag is really, and how lag effects actual gameplay.

Multiplayer General Discussion / Re: Don't you hate when....
« on: June 09, 2013, 03:07:07 AM »
I hate it when I don't have enough time between PVP matches to take a leak and fix a drink.

On another note, has anyone totally not seen the lobby between PVP matches? Like it goes from end of match scoreboard to loading screen and then the start of the next match. It must be that my disc or lens is dirty. I need to just to ahead and buy the downloadable version.

Multiplayer General Discussion / Re: Who is that?
« on: June 08, 2013, 04:31:51 AM »
I belive it depends on where u live. Sometimes people lag to me so hard which not lag to my mates. While others lag to them which didn't lag to me. I think it all depends where u live and where they live. It depends also on time of the day i feel.
Yes! This exactly. But, I don't think the effect of the bad connection is mutual. I feel, in expert aim, the moment I realize that I don't get any at all magnetic pull from the aim assist, I am going to have problems with this player. Normally it is bad hit detection. Like 2,3, or 4 headshots to kill, and no weapon at hand or fists pumping on kill cam. But, it is as if when they aim at me, their reticule goes straight to my head. I'm not saying I never lag, but it seems like I do, when I beast a room with of proven/legit legends, which is like almost never. Lol.

There's been some interesting reads this past week. Props goes out to HawkEyeHamilton for creating a nice thread. :)

That's what I'd write in a shout out box.

Multiplayer General Discussion / Re: more game freezes lately?

Maybe hell froze over and now I can drop wagons on that ass. On ps3 we use throwing weapons. Time to start playing private games.

Where's that dislike button...

Multiplayer General Discussion / Re: Casual Aim vS. Normal Aim?
« on: May 29, 2013, 01:52:14 PM »
I was simply asking a my opinion the derogatory use and comparrision of children with disabilities in a discussion about aim modes is unnecessary.
I don't disagree with you at all about bad choice of comparison BMD used, but maybe people start feeling lax about what they can say here when people are allowed to have names like "pedophile", ugh.
Are there other games that have a casual aim option in them?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all the GTA's released use casual aim?

Edit: Oh, well they ended up banning him for whatever reason...

I glad you started this thread Craigy. I haven't been on Xbox much lately, but the last week or so the lag on PS3 RDR has been consistently horrible. I am going to try to delete my game options file again, and see if that helps any. But, it does seem like a server wide issue, now that you guys mention it. :/

Well, I have nothing against the best of threads. But, as many as we have, we should have a multiplayer sub-forum titled Best of..." and put 'em all in there.

Ok VMB. First vid: Lol, how the bear spun around with a sort of pose. Second vid: I loved the Cels tomahawk to face close up. Third vid: Lol, zombie horse. :)  Nice vids.
