I had this same problem here is what I did. You must do everything in chronological order or it won't work:

1.Find something heavy a sledge hammer will do
2.Smash your PS3
3.Throw PS3 away
4.Buy new PS3
5.Insert disk
6.Enjoy
7.Enjoy some more
8.Repeat steps 1-7 if having same problem

Glad I can help 8)

Changed the release date to Nov 1, I see

Actually that's the European release date. It's still scheduled for Oct 29 for North America. Even if it were scheduled for Nov 1 that's still 3 days from Oct 29th so no big deal if that were to happen but for now it's still on for Oct 29.

How big is it? If it's the size of a dime, than you're screwed. If it's bigger then a silver dollar, than you're even more screwed. If it's bigger than your fist, than you're even more screwed than that. If it's bigger than your bed, you're beyond screwed.

A few years ago we hit a midget with a car.

We were headed over to a mates place, there's four of us in the car. We're cruising down a 6 lane road that has a pub on the left and a convenience store on the right. There was a group of about 5 people crossing the road up ahead from the pub to the store and one of them was a contender for the 'fattest fuck we'd ever seen' award, so our attention was focused on watching the big dude lumbering his way across to the store trying to catch up to the other guys.

Next second we see something running onto the road from the left, then... *THUMP-BANG* and we see a little dude bounce up onto the bonnet and roll off to the side. We had an initial laugh then had to quickly assess the situation. My mate who was driving had a suspended license, unregistered vehicle, a few drinks in his system, dodgy brakes, and a few other items in the car that the cops don't like. We were going 60km/h when we saw him, mate reacted best he could with dodgy brakes but we still ended up hitting him at about 40km/h.

We had to quickly decide whether we keep going (due to suspended/unregistered/drinking/etc issues) or stop and check he was ok and risk the cops getting involved. After realising how many people saw the accident we thought we'd better do a quick check to see what state the little bloke was in.

So we pull the car up and, because we were all curious to see how the little fella was, all 4 doors open up and the four of us get out, the little guy saw this and started legging it in the opposite direction thinking he had damaged the car in his recklessness and now had the 4 of us coming after him (the car was on old tank so we could care less about the damage to it, he left a little dent in the bonnet where his head hit). He had this little gimp run thing going on with one arm chicken winged and a busted leg stride which was kinda kicking his leg out as he ran.

Our first thoughts were that we had crippled the little guy and we started calling out to him but he wouldn't turn around, so I ran after him and when I got to him I grabbed him on the shoulder and turned him round and asked him if he was ok. He slurred "It was my fault, I've had too many drinks". I told him we knew it was his fault, we just wanted to make sure he's alright and doesn't need us to call an ambulance or someone to pick him up. He told me he was ok, apologised, and awkwardly ran off again.

We all got back in the car and continued on to the mates place we were headed. When we got there the first thing we said when we rocked up was "Guess what? We just hit a midget!!".

*Bonus* A few weeks later we saw him in a wheelchair at a supermarket selling tickets for a charity. Either he was now in a wheelchair from the accident or he was in it to try to reel in a few sympathy donations, I saw him at a pub about a week after that and he was waddling around with a beer in his hand (no wheelchair) so my guess is it was a pity chair.

Man sounds like Hollywood's got another idea for a R rated comedy!
