Can't do nothing in free roam, with only the "stranger missions"  to do ……. life is quiet.

But I can't even do them, I walk up to a SM marker (say Bonnie for example)  the short cut scene plays explaining the job..... and the mission don't start.
I just the the action to press L2 to trigger the mission.... for it only to say you have already played this job, unavailable.

Can't do anything because of glitches?  Or because there is nobody online?

Have they added any missions to the online story section?

It's soooo strange that I have about zero desire to even log in to see the updates, like when you have a huge crush on someone and it feels like it's going to last forever and then one day it's just... gone. Not a great feeling, I'm all out of love for RDO... at this point I'm only hoping for some Arthur, Sadie, Charles DLC.

I need to look that up!  I felt so bad that I killed the wolf man, it was like the fastest reaction speed I ever had - pride turned into immediate regret :-/

I'm too cheap to spend the $200 ...

Can't wait to level up enough to get that fast travel option for my camp!

The fast travel is just a post.  You still have to pay every time you use it, and fast travel to camp is the most expensive destination.  Terrible design choice.

Populated, and way better than I left it a few years ago.

No broken matches or free roam session for us.  A little lag in pvp, couple small teleports and an occasional double-roll from opponent.

Free roam seemed full of mostly new players, but we didn't spend much time there.

Definitely fun!  Couple PvP matches, couple gang hideouts, couple co-op missions.

Sorry for not reviving better in co-op, I'll be more attentive in the future  ;D

So after being in what must be 100 free roams by now, some posse have like 7 members limit...… I am still stuck with 4 members.

when does it upgrade for me?

As soon as you pay $200 to form a persistent posse

I feel ya lemon, but I have a red dead itch that has to be scratched even if it is just infrequently.

Re: cards/deadeye/tonics, the aiming mechanics are such that when you're deadeye core is drained aiming is so unresponsive, even free aim becomes more difficult.  Add to it the fact that taking damage makes the reticle dance the jig when not in deadeye... and it becomes very difficult to play with any consistency.  All the variables are working against you.  Unless, of course you drink tonics.

Throw all that in a blender with abysmal spawns, poor level design, random/unbalanced card interactions, huge player level/equipment/wealth disparity (even ammo type needs consideration), and you have a great big shit smoothie.

If it was ALL balanced it could be fun, in a chess match sort of way, but it's not.

Don't get me started on limited, under-developed game modes, posse splitting, and a 'series' format that forces you into games you do not want to play, surprise loadout changes, buying ammo between matches, zero incentive to play the objective vs. getting the most kills, etc...

Maybe I'm just older and grumpier than my rdr1 self  :o

:'( Yeah, I didn't realize just how important some of those nuances were at the time.   C'est la vie...

It's got me thinking about some other unique mp experiences that got mangled... Some of the early Assassin's Creed multiplayer stuff was awesome and truly unique.

If we at least get some RDR1 style co-op I will be much happier, the PvP imbalance is here to stay it would appear

My sense is that development is way way behind schedule.  Of course they won't acknowledge that which is a shame.  It's perfectly reasonable to assume some major hurdle threw off the timetable. And R* is slow as molasses to begin with.

Red Dead Online / Re: What load out do you all use??
« on: January 16, 2019, 02:35:26 PM »
I tested the Eye for an Eye card yesterday, and again with fisherman's help this morning.

The tool tip says : headshots restore some deadeye.  In testing though it needs to be a headshot kill.  Headshotting someone using the hat protection or slow and steady gives zero deadeye without the kill

But when you get the kill it gives alot, approximately double what a normal kill gives.  Using level 3 restores 25% of the outer ring.

So, using very rough math, if you are using lvl 3 eye for an eye every headshot kill gives 6-7 seconds of deadeye time, if you are using level 3 unblinking eye as well, the same kill will yield 9-10 seconds of deadeye time.

Conclusion for me is that these cards are quite good for most situations, exceptions only being if you use alot of shotguns, bows, or melee (name your weapon modes in particular) or are using tonics frequently.  In that case other cards would make more sense.

Hopefully that helps someone.

I've been using the bow alot because of the slow and steady/never without one builds.

My loadout usually is:
slow and steady (survivability, and it steadies the reticle from moving all around if you're recently injured)
never without one (survivability)
eye for eye (I rarely* use tonics so headshots give more needed deadeye, I'll be testing that soon though, it's not much)
unblinking eye (deadeye lasts about 30% longer at card level 3, at least with my testing, not sure of the exact buff percentage)

I think gun rush is completely unrelated to any bug / current content fixes.  It's not as simple as saying " they did this instead of that", it was clearly already on the way independent of other things.

I wish they would have released it not in beta form, but whatcha gonna do?  Multiplayer games in general and free roam games in particular have soooo many variables, that when you miss the mark you can really really miss the mark.  Compounding the problem is Rockstars well-established pattern of being tight-lipped.  I don't think that serves them as well as it used to.  So much good will could be gained by some transparency.

Thanks for sharing your testing, it's good to know.  Weird that hostile territory has player locations always visible.

I keep aim sensitivity to maximum fwiw.

I've cleared 89 hideouts, according to the buckle tracker and gotten 3 treasure maps total.  Fwiw.

I still like doing them, but stopped trying to farm them.
