I tested the Eye for an Eye card yesterday, and again with fisherman's help this morning.

The tool tip says : headshots restore some deadeye.  In testing though it needs to be a headshot kill.  Headshotting someone using the hat protection or slow and steady gives zero deadeye without the kill

But when you get the kill it gives alot, approximately double what a normal kill gives.  Using level 3 restores 25% of the outer ring.

So, using very rough math, if you are using lvl 3 eye for an eye every headshot kill gives 6-7 seconds of deadeye time, if you are using level 3 unblinking eye as well, the same kill will yield 9-10 seconds of deadeye time.

Conclusion for me is that these cards are quite good for most situations, exceptions only being if you use alot of shotguns, bows, or melee (name your weapon modes in particular) or are using tonics frequently.  In that case other cards would make more sense.

Hopefully that helps someone.

I've been using the bow alot because of the slow and steady/never without one builds.

My loadout usually is:
slow and steady (survivability, and it steadies the reticle from moving all around if you're recently injured)
never without one (survivability)
eye for eye (I rarely* use tonics so headshots give more needed deadeye, I'll be testing that soon though, it's not much)
unblinking eye (deadeye lasts about 30% longer at card level 3, at least with my testing, not sure of the exact buff percentage)

I think gun rush is completely unrelated to any bug / current content fixes.  It's not as simple as saying " they did this instead of that", it was clearly already on the way independent of other things.

I wish they would have released it not in beta form, but whatcha gonna do?  Multiplayer games in general and free roam games in particular have soooo many variables, that when you miss the mark you can really really miss the mark.  Compounding the problem is Rockstars well-established pattern of being tight-lipped.  I don't think that serves them as well as it used to.  So much good will could be gained by some transparency.

Well, in fairness, survival mode does solve the shitty spawn issue  ;)

Thanks for sharing your testing, it's good to know.  Weird that hostile territory has player locations always visible.

I keep aim sensitivity to maximum fwiw.

I've cleared 89 hideouts, according to the buckle tracker and gotten 3 treasure maps total.  Fwiw.

I still like doing them, but stopped trying to farm them.

I used to golf a lot...
My saying to myself when the pressure is on is What would Tiger Woods Do? :D  I always wanted to get one of those wristbands made with WWTWD instead of WWJD.

Papabear and Craigyroo were kicking some tail yesterday, it was fun to watch!  Good playing guys.

The bow pickup in name your weapon gives 9 points per kill, for those that don't know.  And it has dynamite arrows... so much fun. Grab it whenever you can!

Essentially slow and steady removes the headshot 'bonus damage'.  It definitely breaks the varmint rifle, but you can still be one-shot with a shotgun for example.

That card combination is slow and steady, eye for an eye(gives deadeye when you headshot), and unblinking eye (slows the rate deadeye and eagle eye degrade).  Fourth card optional.

They need to do something .  Like the old game, specific pickups on each map, something like that.  I want to use a variety of weapons, not be forced to use one without giving away a huge advantage.

It’s only advantage boils down to accuracy.

It also has a large ammo capacity, and it has the fastest fire rate.  You can even put a scope on it. The only time it doesn't beat other weapons is hip firing or hunting animals.  Everyone who doesn't use it is at a disadvantage in PvP.  Usually matching weapon to playstyle is paramount, not in RDRO.

It is definitely op, imho, fwiw, ymmv.  :D

I use it.  To do meal preps and set outfits mostly.  So not everyday but every once in a while it's nice.  If only Cripps would leave it where I PAID to place it.  Bastard keeps moving it.

I wish the kills were just pvp kills.  They even include deer.

Yeah I usually avoid using music because everyone has their own preference.  I prefer country but no one would enjoy that.

Well, shit.

Not sure about the music , but good play fisherman.

This was a cool moment, lucky dive timing a hail of bullets goes over my head, then my teammate draws fire, I get them all then 1 more for five thousandth kill  (whip)

Found out you can catch sturgeon right off the shore next to the butcher in blackwater.  $7.25 apiece and you can sell them right there, no transportation risks (as long as no one is griefing you while you fish)

Red Dead Online / Re: I need help with PvP
« on: December 17, 2018, 02:47:30 AM »
I played quite a few PVP matches this weekend and met with limited success.  :/

I am improving, but not at the rate I'd like.

I may have pinpointed a few problems.
Does anyone know of a way to turn around quickly in PVP?  It would be helpful at spawn points.  :(
Has anyone found a way to win wrestling matches in PVP?
Does anyone have an opinion on the Ability Card Slow and Steady vs Paint It Black for PVP?

Thanks!

Slow and steady is the best ability card available imo, I wasn't a believer until I tried it myself, but it's not perfect.  If it does fit your playstyle though , you will enjoy it.   I will probably alternate between that and paint it black for given situations, but it's definitely staying in most cases.  It breaks the varmint rifle which makes me happy.
