Multiplayer General Discussion / Anybody ever meet 'Buffalo Black'?
« on: September 15, 2010, 12:14:33 AM »
I have played this game for months now since its release on multiplayer, and never have I ever met an interesting and hilarious fellow as this guy who runs around claiming his name is Buffalo Black.

He plays as the L&K's pack Buffalo Soldier, with an awesome voice resembling that of a mixture of Fat Albert and Mr. T Haha.

I ran into him twice before I friended him. He really makes the game fun to play even if you are dying.

For example, in HCFR, I would get killed by him constantly, and he would go on and on about how brutally amazing he is and how I got pwned, but he does it in a very funny way where it's not upsetting. But when I start whipping his ass, he will make up excuses like 'Oh you foo! My gun slipped out my hand when I was gonna pop you!'

He is just really funny and fun to be around. I told him I was gonna post about our confrontations, he asked me to not use his gamertag but to always refer to him as Buffalo Black.

He is always RPing his character, but I suspect he is actually white, I could sense some hint of that sometime when he gets tired. But anyway, I'm wondering has anyone ran into this guy? What do you think of him? He isn't the best player... Don't get me wrong he is good. He is just such a unique person....

Hmmmm... I must be in gay love with this guy.
Ok Im done haha

I actually owned 360 and PS3, found myself buying multiplayer games for XBL mainly because of it's stability, imo anyway. And I bought graphically focused games for the PS3 such as Heavy Rain and GoW3.

... Just my two cents

I think about that all the time! trains in MP would be awesome, I don't buy the whole "Oh it would lag the servers to hell" excuse, if They can do much more complicated things in any MP Game, I'm sure trains that follow a quite linear path wouldn't be much of a problem

and Camoufrage.... Lasso would be cool as well, but ONLY if they add a program where the person being hogtied can attempt to escape, like a mini game of playing with the controls, for example breaking a horse, flicking the analog stick left to right at the appropriate times... If they didn't and a person got hogtied, impossible to escape, never gonna stick, won't even pass the idea meeting for their updates.

I did recreate Dutch's last stand...
I got made myself public enemy then went to Dutchs hideout up the mountain, then i let some guy hunt me and chase me... when he nearly caught up with me... i jumped to my death.

No lie... I think I was the guy who chased you... Haha!

Yeh come on if im PE I kill any player in sight its eva me or them, 2 many times iv ignored em only to be shot so now I take no chances if im PE and your near me you better get out of the way.

Exactly.  9 times out of 10 if you are a public enemy anyone else you see is trying to kill you.  Actually it's really annoying that anytime you become public enemy several people transport to wherever you are and come after you like crazy.  I mean, really, are you that desperate for a few hundred XP?!

I don't believe it's about the xp, its about the feeling you get when kill kill a PE...
I don't know about you guys, but i feel pretty darn good whenever i kill a PE =) don't give a shit about the 200 or so xp.

Me too man, basically I feel like hardcore free roam is just for PKers who want to fight others with skill... And when I want to level up I just do regular Free Roam gang hideouts, or normal Co-op.

Why put yourself through the hassle when you get the same reward.

Just a suggestion, wondering if anyone might like this idea.

Give a little more exp for everything to those who play in Hardcore Free Roam... Since using Casual and Normal targeting is taken away from Hardcore, and it's alot harder, why not reward those daring enough to use expert targeting with a little more XP? I would say maybe 1/3rd more xp in my opinion.

Good idea?

I have the same problem dude, except I would get into decent games slightly more often... I also have been doing all the tricks in the book to up my chances of getting into a game ie... single player > private match > public match, which oddly enough works sometimes.

I feel your pain man, but I'm not tech savvy at all so I have no idea how to fix this =( but I'm lucky in the sense that I'm pretty patient and don't get angry much cause I don't get into a game often, but I'm happy when I do.

What do you guys think? Is it worth it?

New legend mount, and New legend playable character each time... Especially the 1st Legendary character, Kyle McGintis, my favorite.

Yeah, definitely worth it for me

Yes, I know someone is going to flame me as being a troll since this like my 2nd or 3rd post, but let me assure you, I am simply a concerned gamer who wants this game to be fun.

There are a few things that PLAYERS can do to make Free Roam *not* suck and also a few GREAT reasons to stop doing one of the things that makes it suck the most:  Player Killing.

Yes, I know, you're supposed to be able to do it.  But handing out in a gang hideout waiting to repeatedly spawn-kill players trying to complete an objective, all the while being the one enemy they CAN'T easily aim at, doesn't exactly take any skill and also isn't what the devs had in mind.

That said, here's my 2 cents:

1) Free Roam should be an option, but there should be a separate menu **before** being forced into Free Roam where you can instead choose an organized game.  I shouldn't have to spend 5 minutes respawning because loser player killers who don't do objectives or any team games continually spawn kill me just so that I am able to select a DIFFERENT game type.  Having a Playlist menu or #2 seems to make sense.

2) Make a small, temporary neutral zone so that when you spawn, you're invulnerable until you move like 20ft or something... just in case you didn't hop into multiplayer just to get shot by other players being jackasses over and over.

3) Make it possible for posse members to spawn on you.  My buddy spent 15 minutes trying to get out of town while about 20 other PK'ers simply spawn killed him, almost unable to move at all.  He even stopped shooting back and just tried to get to the Transport location, but they just kept hunting him.  This is NOT how the game was intended to be played.  Allowing posses members to always spawn near the posse only makes sense.

1) XP for a Free Roam PK:  10pts.  XP for a team game kill:  50pts.  'Nuff said.

2)  I understand it's fun.  I've done it.  But if a player is continually trying to *avoid* you while you and your buddies are PK'ing in Free Roam:  screw off an leave them alone.  They're probably trying to complete objectives.  Go kill someone who's actually willing to shoot back. It takes no skill to catch someone off guard right as they spawn and shoot them in the back.

3) If you have any guts, challenge an enemy posse to a REAL fight.  It's structured, you have scores to prove who's who, and you aren't screwing up other people's games.  Plus 50XP??

4) You'll level up faster and unlock better weapons as a result.  You can only complete some of the challenges in-game (like 250XP just for carrying like 10 bags of gold) so it's also an opportunity to get huge amounts of XP quickly.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who will tell me to stuff it, so let me just respond ahead of time and say right back at you.

No... this game is meant for players to play the way THEY WANT TO PLAY.

If some people feel like PK'ing, let them, it really isn't that hard to get away, there IS an option to search for another Free Roam server... duh?

Oh and the game holds up to 16 players per free roam... so it's impossible to have about 20 PK'ers after you... But even with that, you must have done something bad to have "20" PK'ers hunt you or your friends down.

Honestly, I have done it all, I PK'ed, I have been hunted, I ran from Posses, I have been the hunter. It's really fun, because thats how I WANT to play it. THAT is how the game was intended to be played my friend.

Quit QQing and learn how to counter it all. Thats RDR for ya on Multiplayer, hell of a lot of PvP. Don't like it? Send R* a letter, watch them laugh at you.

Multiplayer General Discussion / RE: A strange occurance

There have been reports of a "glitch" in the game where a dog roams around sometimes on his hind legs... People have branded this creature as the Werewolf of RDR, similar to the Big Foot sightings in GTA4.

I haven't seen this beast yet but you are just another story added on to the list.

Rank: Legendary 1, Level 48

I play mostly late nights (After midnight) EST

My style of play really is hunting other players, killing cheaters/public enemies/griefers. I tend to roll with my brother sometime and we are honestly like a two man army.

Just looking for a gang or friends to play with, joke around and kick some players asses.
