Red Dead Redemption 2 / Anyone manage to float a stage coach yet?
« on: November 07, 2018, 09:37:35 AM »
Or get a horse on a roof?

Finding time to play this game with a 10 month old baby at home hasn’t been super successful, so today when I finally unlocked it...I was excited.

I hope there’s some form of fishing in Mp.   I wont hold my breathe...but here’s to hoping.

Anyone got any pics of fish they’ve caught so far?

Red Dead Redemption 2 / So what are your thoughts so far?
« on: October 27, 2018, 09:05:44 AM »
So we have the first day under our belts - how do you feel about it so far?  Do you like the gameplay?  Controls?  Graphics?  Anything that has bugged you yet?  Or does it seem flawless?

Red Dead Redemption 2 / Official companion app

An official app will go along with the game.

What do you expect or want this app to have?  Leaderboards? Posse/club related stats? Only single player stuff?

Red Dead Redemption 2 / What characters do you want to see return?
« on: October 22, 2018, 02:41:57 PM »
Since this is a prequel, that focuses on a new protagonist, it leaves a lot of opportunity to meet various characters from RDR that John met.  Our new protagonist could meet these people for the first time in their younger days, when out and about on adventures without John.

So who would you want to see?  To me, it would be cool to see Landon Ricketts a little younger and faster.

Rockstar just released a tidbit that there are over 200 species in RDR2.  That is cool, but one thing in particular that caught my eye was this sturgeon.  A cool fish that can get pretty big IRL.  There are also some other fish behind it, including bass.

This makes me think, why bother being so detailed with your fish if you’re not going to be swimming or fishing?  It’s possible they’re just being detailed, I mean they made horse balls that shrink when it’s cold - but wouldn’t fishing be cool?  Hunting was already a big part of RDR and they have already stated that food and providing are an important part of camp life.  So it’s not unlikely that fishing will be present.

As an avid real life fisherman, this idea is pretty exciting.  Maybe some online fishing stats would even be cool, so I can live up to my name? :D

What do you think?

Red Dead Redemption 2 / RDR podcast?
« on: September 22, 2018, 07:43:43 PM »
We should do a podcast.  I’ve been thinking about trying to start one, but I haven’t got a lot of time or equipment and have never done one - it also would be nice to have more than one person on it.  Is there anyone here with some experience?

Sounds like there are sites that will host them for free.

Not only would it be fun but it also might bring some people in.

Red Dead Redemption 2 / Western movie references
« on: September 22, 2018, 04:52:49 PM »
What are your favorite ones westerns that you want to see referenced?  More like an homage or tribute, than an obvious mention.

I’m a huge western fan, and love all the obvious ones.  I hope they reference some lesser known westerns so we have to work to find them all.

Some of my Very favorites are the assasination of Jesse James,  conagher, open range, tombstone, butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid, and lonesome dove.

Any favorites you hope to see?

Red Dead Redemption 2 / NPC interaction
« on: September 22, 2018, 04:44:26 PM »

a feature/concept that is truly underrated.  More side quests and things to find and do, the more real and immersive a game will feel.    I really hope to see a lot of those little sidequests that have nothing to do with the main story.  Rockstar has always done this well, but I hope to see a lot of true western stories and moments, and hopefully detailed and involved like the “I know you” side quest was, as a random example.  I want to get into a range war with a random rancher defending his land, or help some Comanche renegades fight off a union regiment.  Or help a boom town sheriff clean up his town.   Little moments that are unrelated to the story always seem to go further and help set the tone more than the main story.

Red Dead Redemption 2 / A theory about the ending (possible spoilers)
« on: September 11, 2018, 09:19:36 PM »
Not really a theory as there’s no evidence to support it - more of a random prediction:

Many westerns have the main character die in the end or ride off in the sunset.  RDR did this when John died. But it creates a problem when you want to keep playing, so they fixed this by you continuing on as Jack Marston...

My idea is if Arthur Morgan dies in the end,or maybe in a twist just rides off and could continue playing on as John Marston.  It seems like an almost poetic twist and would make a lot of fans happy to play as John again.

Would you like this idea or do you hope Our protagonist survives this time?

Red Dead Redemption 2 / How do you feel about the timeline placement?
« on: September 11, 2018, 09:14:34 PM »
We’ve known it’s been a prequel for a while now, but here recently it was revealed that Jack Marston is in the game. This means it takes place not so long before the events of RDR.  Like right before it almost.

I’m excited regardless, but I was really hoping to go further back into the old west.  When the Indian wars were happening, when it was all young and fresh and the West was still truly wild.  The one thing that bugged me about RDR was that it seemed to be the end of the era, and it seems they are going for the same theme again - the end of dutch and his gang’s freedom.  They are being hunted and it’s the end of the line.

Are you happy with less of a time jump than expected and more of a direct prequel?

"According to the notes, Red Dead Redemption 2’s online component will feature ‘Battle Royale’, ‘Revive and Survive’ and ‘Money Grab’ modes."

"Red Dead Redemption 2 will allow you to play both the main campaign and multiplayer in first-person. The document states the game will have bespoke animations to fit the style."

Red Dead Redemption 2 / Do you think we will see John Marston?
« on: September 30, 2017, 06:54:23 AM »
Either a cameo, a regular character, or not at all?

Obviously the trailer shows Dutch, his gang, and even Bill williamson.  So will John be present?

Red Dead Redemption 2 / Could RDR be releasing Oct 3rd?
« on: March 28, 2017, 12:28:48 PM »
Supposedly a retailer accidentally claimed they were told Oct 3rd, but then quickly recanted.  This happens a lot it seems - sometimes its true and sometimes not so much.  Seems like a good date, for what its worth.

What do you think?

So in the new picture released, it possibly looks like John is not front and center, if he's even in it at all.

Some might freak out, but this could provide some opportunity.  Aside from the obvious that a new main character will have all new traits and curiosities, there are also some old characters this could open up.

If you notice, these characters are about the same age.  Younger versions of these guys would make for some really cool back story, as opposed to simply reliving John's, which we already know.  John didn't know these guys before they met in RDR, so a prequel with John as the main character limits these two from having much play.

Ultimately we know John.  But a prequel with John as a side character can tell the same story, but with more opportunity.
