Red Dead DLC / Undead Nightmare
« on: October 15, 2010, 01:25:53 PM »
On October 26th, the Undead Nightmare will be unleashed upon the world of Red Dead Redemption, with an entirely new single-player storyline, as well as brand new multiplayer content.

Seemingly overnight, a zombie plague ravages the once bountiful frontier, decimating the landscape and reawakening the dead. In towns, settlements, and outposts throughout the world, the uninfected citizens are left to fight for survival against waves of the undead.  John Marston must ride out into the vast and terrifying world and survive long enough to find a cure.

With four unique zombie classes - each with their own characteristics, plus new infected predatory animals roaming the countryside, and non-traditional weaponry like the Blunderbuss - which can be loaded with looted remains of fallen zombies, the Undead Nightmare Pack offers an entirely original gameplay experience for fans of Red Dead Redemption.  Additionally, the deadly Tomahawk and the Explosive Rifle make a triumphant comeback and will be available exclusively for those who downloaded the Legends and Killers Pack and the Liars and Cheats Pack.

The all new single-player narrative features new challenges, quests, and ambient events, including Missing Persons, where the player must find a missing survivor lost amongst the throngs of undead.  This new release also brings new content to Multiplayer, with Undead Overrun, a brand new multiplayer survival mode where waves of infected enemies attack and players must work together to stay alive against increasingly difficult odds.

The Undead Nightmare Pack will be available for download from Xbox LIVE (800 Microsoft Points) and PlayStation Network ($9.99) and requires a copy of Red Dead Redemption to play.  Also coming soon, Undead Nightmare, a single, stand-alone disc that bundles together for the first time ever, the Undead Nightmare Pack, the Outlaws to the End Co-Op Mission Pack, the Legends and Killers Pack, the Liars and Cheats Pack and all the Multiplayer Free Roam modes released to date.  Undead Nightmare will be available at retail stores everywhere for $29.99/£24.99/€29.99 and does not require a copy of Red Dead Redemption to play.

"The Undead Nightmare will be a separate experience launched from the Main Menu.  It will not alter or change the regular single player whatsoever."

"There is some great new multiplayer as part of Undead Nightmare!"

R* RULES! This is going to be a great deal of fun, IMO!

Hints, Tips, Guides and Walkthroughs / Basic Question
« on: October 06, 2010, 12:18:55 PM »
I just want to be sure that I am playing correctly. Last night I did Mexican Caesar. After it was completed, the next mission was clear across the other side of the map. Why does it do that? LOL

The idea is to ride to each mission that pops up on the map until you have completed them all, right?

Posse Recruitment: PS3 / A Band of Brothers
« on: October 01, 2010, 10:45:33 AM »

I would like to form a PS3/RDR gaming group that is made up of 4 members. I am seeking 3, like minded and mature players to join.  All games are in hard-core private mode. The time zone is set to EST.

Central Benefit

1.   Play with like minded and close cyber gaming friends.
2.   Steer clear of public mode and having to encounter hackers, cheats, taxed game lobbies, immature players, etc.
3.   The ability to create our own games and take full advantage of the RDR world.
4.   A small group setting will capture the “thrill of the hunt” style of play.

1.   2 vs. 2 for all PVP styled games.
2.   4 acting as one group to do gang hideouts and hunting.
3.   4 to sit down and player poker and black jack.
4.   Winner incentive concept being considered.  High score wins an iTunes gift card, etc.

1.   You must be at least 30 years of age to join. Exceptions can be made but based on an interview.
2.   You must use a headset. Please use properly. Do not have player voices coming out of your sound system. Voice echo is very distracting.
3.   All entering game modes will be based on a vote and/or rotation.
4.   Any creation of team vs. team games will be based on a vote and/or rotation.
5.   Please do not intentionally fire upon members of the group unless in a team vs. team setting.
6.   Please do not intentionally fire upon a non-predator animal such as a horse.
7.   Respect the group.
8.   Have fun!

Please post or PM to discuss the concept or if you wish to join.

Thank you,

Multiplayer General Discussion / Glitchy Game Play
« on: September 24, 2010, 11:44:54 AM »
This is not about the new DLC as it seems to have always been the case...

It's hard to explain via text but it seems that the second I go from FR to a PVP game mode (Any PYP type) all of a sudden the entire feel of RDR becomes shaky. It is not as smooth of a video playback so to speak. It's hard to aim. You seem to be getting shot by players not even looking in your direction. It's all very glitched with a low frame rate feel.

Does anyone else notice this?

Multiplayer General Discussion / Casual Aim - Fast Question
« on: September 04, 2010, 01:12:57 PM »
Correct me if I am wrong -

When using casual aim, the target lock does not work against your own posse mates when in Free Roam and, even if you have it selected as your aim mode, it does not work if you go into Hard Core mode.

Bigger question
If your pal is using casual and you are using expert and then you both go into a "Grab the bag" or "Hold your own" to fight one on one and it is not a hard core mode game, does his casual aim still lock on to you?

Multiplayer General Discussion / Crazy Lag
« on: September 04, 2010, 12:46:08 PM »
Anyone else running into a ton of FR wild lag as of late? Last night my pal and I were in a knife fight. Slice, slice and all of a sudden... BLINK and I was in another town! He was like, "What the? Where the hell did you go?" Well that's one way to get away I suppose. LOL!!!

Multiplayer General Discussion / Dead Eye Hack?
« on: August 21, 2010, 10:42:56 AM »
Here's a new one for you. We were playing FR/HC last night and some random starts shooting me. He took 3 shots with a snipers rifle. All 3 missed. He runs towards me. I drop down, enter dead eye and paint 2 X's on his face. Can you guess what happens next?

Dear R*,
Bring down the ban hammer NOW! Enough is enough.

Multiplayer General Discussion / Lag Switch Users
« on: August 18, 2010, 01:37:24 PM »
Recent title updates have already included anti-lagging protection measures, but we continue to monitor this activity and we'll let you know when we have any additional updates. In the meantime, if you are having issues with lag switchers in multiplayer games, we'd appreciate it if you could detail the experience to our technical support team so they can investigate the issue further.

You can reach them through any of the following means:

Amazing! R* is the best game company ever. Their level of care and commitment to the end user is outstanding. Sadly, some of the odd occurrences we deal with in MP may very well be due to lag switch users <--- Simply pathetic!

Multiplayer General Discussion / Ultra Hardcore Free Roam
« on: August 12, 2010, 11:23:11 AM »
Scene One: Midnight in Armadillo

You are sitting atop your mount a mile or so outside of town. It is pitched black out and it has begun to rain. You can only make out a few buildings with every flash of lighting. Are you alone or are you about to be ambushed by a posse? Do you slowly approach the town or gallop in with guns blazing? Think of how awe-inspiring this could be!

This cannot be archived without the creation of Ultra Hardcore.

Dear R*,

I would like to suggest a mode called, Ultra Hardcore. This mode can easily be achieved by making a few minor changes to the already amazing game you have created. Thank you for your consideration.

Readers, please feel free to add or take away. To avoid confusion, I thought it best to focus only on Free Roam for now.

Ultra Hardcore Free Roam - Suggestions

. HUD is removed from the session. There is no radar of any kind.

. EDIT Main map does not show player position. It may only be used to see your own location. See if you need to go North, South, East or West to get to where you wish to be.

. Name-tags are only shown when you aim on the player.

. EDIT Pressing on the D pad shows a general location of player activity. As it does now. It tells you what town they are in, etc.

. No dead eye or dead eye camps.

. When killed, you respawn near your location of death but it is always random.

. No respawn delay offering invisibility for 10-15 seconds.

. If shot 3 times, you may opt out or spawn to a new location.

. If you make six kills, you become most wanted.

Thank you,

Multiplayer General Discussion / Why won't you die? LOL
« on: August 11, 2010, 10:58:55 AM »
Scene 1: HC Free Roam: Enemy was standing behind a rock. Not using cover, just standing there. He was facing me and saying, "I see you!". He was about 100-125 yards away. I shot him smack in the middle of the forehead TWICE with the snipers rifle. I seen the blood spatter. I hear his character grunt, etc. Nothing! Then, bang! One shot with a hand gun and I was dead.

Scene 2: HC Free Roam: Same enemy only this time, he did not see me first or know I was sighting him. He was on the roof of the Armadillo saloon and I was on the railroad tracks slightly outside of town. BANG. One shot to the head with the same rifle and down he goes.

If I did not know better, the above seems like a classic case of a lag switch being used. Please tell me I am wrong and it cannot be in RDR. This seems to happen too often. What would be the cause in your opinion?

Multiplayer General Discussion / Free Roam Respawn System and HUD
« on: August 11, 2010, 10:40:35 AM »
Could someone give a write up about the new respawn system and the HUD? My questions list is only for Free Roam and not MP games.

1. When does your dot appear on the HUD?
2. When does your tag appear?
3. Are you always seen on the main map?
4. Do you have the 15 seconds of HUD invisibility after being shot?
5. 3 deaths and then you can opt out?
6. 6 kills and you become wanted?
7. When in a posse, what a from above applies?
8. When in a posse, you always see your team as a dot on the HUD. Can that be removed?

Multiplayer General Discussion / Hard-wired vs WiFi
« on: August 10, 2010, 11:46:10 AM »
I am hard wired and come in around 12mpbs. My friend is Wifi and a speed test shows him at 1.5mpbs. Logic would say that I have the advantage because of the higher connection but I don't know of this is true or even matters since we are playing on the R* server. I just wonder if it makes any difference. There are times when I will take him down 15-2 and others where I cannot even get a shot on him but nothing has changed with our connections. Just a good vs. bad play day maybe?

ps. both on PS3.

Multiplayer General Discussion / Are you really that bored?
« on: August 09, 2010, 01:17:45 PM »
I rarely play public Free Roam but when I do, I play Hardcore. I assume there is no way to default the initial sign on to anything other than Public Free Roam Casual Aim?

Literally within 5 seconds of lobby entrance, two players come charging at me just outside of Armadillo.  I snipe them both as they were at full run and then continued to switch over to private mode.

My point – some players must be bored out of what little wits they have to attack a player within seconds of entering the game. Yikes!

Multiplayer General Discussion / Dead Eye
« on: August 07, 2010, 05:45:13 PM »
Hey guys,

I was playing HC private mode with friends last night and realized the Dead Eye is not auto painting anymore. I have to tap R1 (Dead Eye level 3 in the SP). Is this correct or was it a bug or something?
