Red Dead Online / Re: Post your Tips and tricks for RDR2 Online

Spent most of the night doing this, played a little poker and then went back. I thought it got patched, but realized that you have to swap the fish from the left side of the horse only. Weird.  I don't bother getting 2nd horse...after catching 2nd fish I just swap at the river and then go to the butcher. Worked out pretty well and no one bothered me. Got lucky with a friendly session but soon many left and there was only 2 other players left in the lobby for a long time. Now people are doing it with cougars. I can't get a perfect coat for those, so I will stick with the fish.

I don't feel one bit guilty about doing this either! The way Rockstar is overpricing everything....they deserve it! And they have the nerve to wonder why people do these things.

That sounds too good to be true...but I'm gonna try it. How much do they sell for and did they all sell for the same amount? Can you do it with any big fish?

Red Dead Redemption was released!

Did you get caught up in any hype? Was it the same amount of hype as RDR2?

Were you a day one player or did you get the game later on?

Do you remember your first experience online?

I definitely agree that RDO has more to do than the old RDR. But the feel of it...the atmosphere it gives out is that of a battle royale and the feeling of "I gotta watch my back at all times". I am only a level 34, that's no one's fault but my own, but I just really don't enjoy RDO and there aren't enough things to do to level up...for me. There's no private session so I could do more leveling up and then go back to a public free roam. That other night was boring not because no one was being annoying...not that I wanted someone to but it was sad to see that there is no interaction and socialization like there was in the old RDR. No one invites you to their posse...seems like posse's are only reserved for friends now. I would always get posse invites from randoms in the old RDR. And I think the worst part is that you don't know where anyone is on the map until they are close to you. I don't like that.

Well, sorry to be a negative nancy once again. I am trying soooo hard to get used to this new game and every time I go back to it and make another attempt I am always disappointed and frankly disgusted with it. You just can't teach an old dog new tricks. You guys have to remember I am 52 years old..(I'm still a kid that doesn't want to grow up)  but...I don't like a lot of change and my gaming abilities are not as good as they used to be.

I do like the new story missions and will probably stick to that and chilling out with some friends playing poker. That was definitely a plus!

I didn't have such a good time last night. Defensive mode is crap. I was once again minding my own business, unarmed... and this guy thought it was funny to shoot me for no reason. I had a harder time fighting back since the aiming is whacked out when in defensive. So, hostility system is garbage. Then me and a couple of friends tried to glitch off the map to Mexico...aaaand they patched that. Hanging out in Blackwater and then to Tumbleweed, we experienced something similar to the old RDR where you can't see people/horses but you can see the blip on mini-map. Don't know if we found a bad session or something but that was definitely messed up. Seems like it's worse to me.

Only good thing to come out of this update is the least they fixed that!

I don't know what they did with all the PvP modes but I know they added another called Overrun. Maybe someone else who plays those could tell ya.

Well, I tested out free roam using the Defensive option. I was in Valentine and a few other players were there too, and no one seemed to be bothering anyone...they were just killing the townsfolk.  It was actually kinda boring...a far cry from the days of RDR1 when you rolled into town, something was always going on especially if someone started a Land Grab.  THIS is what RDO free roam is missing, sadly.

Anyway, had a good time playing poker with a friend and then we did one of the new story missions.  Later on switched over to story mode and the graphics are back to being amazing. What a difference!

Yea, I know, Ferg....I am just trying to get people to play...trying to see who's interested in doing something fun instead of PvP all the time. I would play more if I could find people that like to do the things I like to do....I was hoping to find others who felt the same way. Most friends have given up on RDO.

You PS4 people could get something going as idea is not only for Xbox. I thought I would suggest this again since the game is out of beta and we got some more content.

So, the play style you choose...offensive or defensive...isn't permanent?  In other words....another useless feature and the tryhards win!

Who would be interested in doing this either regularly or randomly? It wouldn't have to be for any particular reason either but to make it interesting there could be a set theme.  A different theme for each meet up where where we could take pictures, game clips or even do a live stream on Mixer!

Examples:  Fight club, hunting/fishing tournaments, Guarma trip (if possible), horse show (similar to car meets in GTA), fashion show (show off those outfits), boat races, get back into rooftopping, steal a train....whatever we want to do.  If nothing, for the simple joy of getting together with friends!

Any ideas? Thoughts?  Help me out and spread the word to your friends to join in too.

I'd like to see how well that new defensive mode will work against greifers.  Very skeptical.

(Quietly mumbles under breath:  Private/invite only would take care of that 100%!)

I didn't even get my $100 alert..nothing. Not that I'm worried about it...

My interest has slightly peaked!  Glad to see poker with an invite only option. Me and another friend have been waiting for that!

Disappointed to read that they don't want to add inv only sessions.

Want to go check it out right now....but, still trying to get over this virus/flu/upper respitory infection....whatever, that has been plaguing me for the last week and a half. Ugh!

If you read the patch notes they fixed the graphics in story mode....or I guess, both story and online!  THIS I am happy about! VERY happy! Most my time is spent getting perfect screenshots and taking lots of game clips in story mode.

Red Dead Online / RDO coming out of beta
« on: May 13, 2019, 08:50:03 PM »
Just gonna leave this right here....not sure what to think at this point!  Good news? Or just more of the same boring stuff with nothing that fans really want!

Red Dead Redemption 2 has now sold 24 Million copies worldwide. Only selling 1 Million copies in the last 3 months. Take-Two Interactive have said it’s still selling better than expected.

Red Dead Online will be coming out of beta this Quarter, meaning it will come out of Beta by the end of June. CEO Strauss Zelnick also claimed that they have content drops coming for Red Dead Online. Claiming Online is performing very well.

I know....$100 bonus? What a joke! If they think that's an incentive to get people playing the game they are sadly mistaken.

I play RDO once in a while when I see a friend playing and I usually just hunt, fish and do a few stranger missions.  Or I go to the store and buy clothes. My heart isn't into it completely like it was in RDR multiplayer because it feels almost like I'm a generic character just "playing" in a wild west setting...there is absolutely no immersion like there is in story mode. I feel like I'm constantly on the lookout for other players sneaking up on you to take you out.  The blip system is totally messed up...I don't like it at all!  There is no total relaxation and I don't feel like I can do what I want to do to level up (because there's nothing to do anyway)...not like I could in the first RDR.  I could go on and on....I will stop now.  I will play with someone who likes to play and I just tag along for the company...all the while I'm wishing to get back to single player!  I LOVE single player and even though I reached 100% completion I still enjoy playing. Currently working on another play through on another account...but I refuse to start another RDO character....UNLESS they add private sessions down the road.

They are most likely working on GTA6 but I still think it's a bit early for rumors and release dates.  If it's released only on the next gen consoles I won't be getting it.

I will definitely have check that out, VMB!

OMG, Pug...the Witcher 3 was an all around awesome game...I thought I would never finish it there was so much to do!  I think I still need to finish that 2nd DLC and never tried out Game +.

I kinda stay away from reviews and like to make my own predictions based on gameplay on YouTube/Mixer from my favorite streamers. And first off, it depends mostly on what the game is about and if it is something interesting to me. Every game is a grind pretty much. I have so many games I have not finished that even though I enjoy them, I got lazy and quit grinding.

When I saw the trailers for Days Gone the thing that interested me was the protagonist and the whole survive-the-zombies concept. Now that I've seen some streams, it seems like it has a "Walking Dead" feel to it as there are other survivors to fight against and the fighting mechanics and weapons look great! I think you can customize Deacon's bike and of course there's a photo mode to capture all those amazing kills or beautiful graphic scenery.

Yea, zombies are overdone and repetitive and I guess you have to like that sort of thing to keep you playing!  I would love to try it out!

Thanks, guys! By the time I save up for one (hypothetically) PS5 will be out!  But, I guess that really doesn't matter! They will still support the PS4, right?  PS3 games are still playable aren't they?  Yea, Playstation has some pretty interesting exclusive games...Xbox has been....meh.

Is there such a thing as renting a console anywhere?  Remember back when you could at Blockbuster....back when the dinosaurs where around.  LOL!

Can you still play single player games whether or not they have a multiplayer mode without getting a Playstation Plus subscription?
